Tbh I've never changed the sample rate (44.1kHz). For the least amount of delay select the smalles buffer length (for example when you record something). Else you can set it to maximum to increase the CPU performance

Well increasing the attack in the synth will cause it to take more time to get to the loudest part which will make it less punchy :D
