I have a big stash of wood veneers and have done some layered rings (one of which I'm wearing in the beginning of the video). I usually use Titebond to adhere the layers, but this time I decided to experiment with using Super 77 instead. It's certainly quicker, but I don't think I'd go that route again, as the layers weren't as solid as I'd prefer for a standalone piece of jewelry.

Barb, I admire your dexterity. If that had been me, rather than a pendant I'd have ended up with an ornament superglued to my fingers. I'd have also drilled a few holes through my hands (been there, one that...)

+Reactive Light haven't we all? :) actually, in the interest of time, i cut out the part where i touched the super glue coat too early, got fingerprints in it, and had to sand it off and try again.

Can you describe the finish? Tung Oil and Crazy glue? Does the oil darken the wood and the glue seal it to prevent the oil from evaporating over time?

+Elliot Mebane pretty close. the tung oil brings out the colors (darker, richer), and the super glue coat is very strong and waterproof (I've been wearing that wooden ring every day, which I made a few months ago with a super glue finish and it's still in great shape). the superglue also adds some depth to the color and helps even out the surface. I didn't include it in the video, but I lightly sanded the super glue coat after it dried, it dries somewhat shinier than you see at the end of this.

Speeding up a video is fine, but that was done WAY too fast; it was hard to see many times exactly what you were doing. Plus you didn't talk during the video to tell us what you were doing, and what products you used to make your pendant. Would love more information on this...lovely piece, thanks.

if you see any later videos, you will find that my style has evolved quite a bit since this was posted. if you'd like more details, see the description for a link to the instructable. still, it might be time to revisit this project.
