Good video! When i make registration marks i simply weld two stars together in the postion i want them in, duplicate it, and then align them together to be positive that they are even. Afterwards, i sync the stars with the top/bottom layers.

You make it look so easy. I've had some problems cutting adhesive foil (looks like stainless) (Cricut brand). I cut on vinyl and vinyl+ with same results. When I go to weed the foil is not cut all the way through. Have you had this issue? If so, what did you do to correct? Thanks for all you do for us!

Melody, this was excellent. It's been a bit of time since I've used my Cricut. I was wondering if when you are aligning the stars, rather than eyeballing the placement, could you just assign location numbers on the second layer by checking to see what those numbers are on the first layer? There are two sets of numbers, right/left and up/down. It seems that in the past when I've done this I adjusted the numbers accordingly to get a precision duplication of location. At any rate, even if this is not possible, your video was wonderful! I learned a lot from watching it!!

Here's how it is done. Position your first star where you want it in your design then click on it. Go to the right hand tabs and click edit. Three editable pieces of data will show up: width and height, rotation and position. The position numbers are what need to be duplicated on the second star. Remember those position numbers from the first star's position. Click on the second star and go to the edit tab. Go to where the position numbers are showing and change them. Hit enter and the star will be positioned in the exact location where the first star is positioned. You can get very precise placement this way. I do it all the time. I learned how to do this when I was doing a newspaper with the old Pagemaker program. I expect it can still be done with Adobe's InDesign program.

To weld is to attach pieces together Permanently such as 2 letters touching becoming one piece whereas attach would be to affix something on your canvas that can be removed (detached). Think of attach just like your tacky mat. When you attach the vinyl to the mat it adheres temporarily, that's the same as attaching the image you created on your canvas. By attaching the image everything will stay in place until you detach it. By doing this your image will cut with the letters in the right order rather than all over the place. Hope that helps.

after you align the bottom stars how are you selecting them are you pressing control or something every time i click on it goes off the other one. even if i go into the layers the same thing

I think I did it but it was a little different from what you did. I had to hit the eye to make the other layers disappear so i could select what i wanted. But I wanted to say thanks because I was having a lot of problems putting different layers together even went to the point of taking backing off and just hand placing each layer. Now to try and cut and see how it works.

Isn't it easier to burnish when you 1st apply the transfer tape rather than mid-project? It seems like it would be. This is in relation to the first piece of vinyl.

Melody, this is how I made baseball logos for my grandson's wall, by using stars as registration marks, and I was sure I learned it from you originally. I'll have to shoot a photo and post it for you. It was a tedious job because it was several layers.
