Man, your bike is like the bag of Hermine Granger. Tons of stuff in a few little bags. Love it 🙂

Congrats on another top-10 finish. It looked like an amazing race to be involved in.

Thanks, Josh! Some important advice here, particularly on hygeine. Getting sick must be a real 'mare, and almost guaranteed at some stage in a country where we are unfamiliar with the food and water

Albion makes nice kit. I bought a pair of their pocket bibs on your recommendation and love them. Can't wait for your next coupon code from then so I can pick up their rain shell.

@@joshibbett Excellent! Pressed in some new Enduro bearings this morning as my bottom bracket was getting a bit, ummm, crunchy.

Many thanks for sharing Josh! I'm currently planning my first race setup and find all your small tipps really helpful, as you're relly going into detaill regarding the stuff you bring!

Wish Albion would make some pocket bib tights with no chamois as a standard offering!
@mikeelonergan83066 ай бұрын
Nice tips josh,I too decided on bib tights over leg warmers as the lower back and ass need warmth which legs warmers don't do..sorry Albion I also cut my chamois pad out but badly 😂 and have some choice stitch repairs where the scissors cut..

On longer self supported races (e.g. transcontinental), do you actually consider some sort of lock, e.g. those super thin 100g cable locks? I somehow would feel really uncomfortable even just hopping into a super market and leaving a bike + stuff worth several grand without any form of protection. And while obviously those cable locks are not meant for bikes, they still prevent a simple theft of opportunity provided by a completely unprotected bike.

Thanks for your videos! Question: What is that mesh bag you use over your rear bag? Is it DIY? Thx

Hi Josh. I've also just finished the Atlas Mountain Race, a fair way back from you! Nice to see the kit you carried. I think I took too much! How long did it typically take you to stop, get your sleeping stuff out, do your teeth etc and then bed down? I feel I wasted huge amounts of time doing this but I don't think I was packed as efficiently as you. Thanks.
@joshibbett6 ай бұрын
I think I could be packed up in 10mins or less and sleeping within 5 if I didn't faff too much or gaze at the stars! I chose to stuff the sleeping bag directly into the rear pack rather than pack it in its own bag to save time packing, although it results in a bulkier pack

I want one of those prototype rear bags ❤

Very smart gear choices Josh, really helpful. Would you have took a waterproof Bivvy if rain was forecast?
@joshibbett6 ай бұрын
Yes I would have taken a bivvi, originally rain as forecast for the first night which then resulted in a delayed start due to flooding. So my plan was to ride through the first night and then sleep in the desert

with no weight on the front wheel, does it slide out?
@PurpleShadowDragon5 ай бұрын
please tell me how you keep all this stuff safe when going into the shops? don't you have to unstrap everything apart from food and water and put it into another bag? someone can come along and in one minute unstrap everything and be away with it

Thanks for sharing. Do you sense other cyclists or just people in general coming past as you sleep? Scorpions, mosquitos!!!?????

The freewheel buzz of another rider always wakes me... but usually too tired to care about scorpions!

No down/insulated jkt or did i miss that?
@joshibbett6 ай бұрын
Just the Albion ultralight insulated jacket which is predominantly for riding... but took the zero degree sleeping bag so I would definitely be warm and comfortable at night

Trying to determine size to buy. What size do you wear, and what is your height and weight? I like how long the sleeves are on your shirt. Thanks
