I'm a chippy. Whack the PU glue in the groove first so it tacks both sides of the tongue. Especially on a floating floor.

No vapour barrier laid on the concrete floor and up the walls by 150mm, no expansion gaps around the perimeter, no foil tape over the insulation board joints. Your asking for damp and warping.. really need to learn how to properly lay a floating floor Mr Budd

Need to raise the level of multiples conservatory floor 50mm to match the house and laminate on top. Could you lay laminate direct onto the insulation board?

I’m afraid I couldn’t tell in you can or you can’t 🤷♂️

Do you use vapour barrier?

Can pipe work be laid in the PIR for radiators & sink/toilet, plus will 100mm pir & 22mm chipboard be ok to support a toilet? Also, as mentioned in the comments, BCO came to see my extension & said i need a dpm on top of the concrete & again on top of the pir before the chipboard... i already have a dpm layer beneath the concrete slab too!

Hi thinking of doing the same thing .is it strong enough to tile over

Well, I never expected that! Mr Budd, the bricky, laying a floor that didn't have any bricks. Truly multi-talented, well done Mr Budd, I enjoyed your video even though there were no bricks involved!

@Ian James definitely vapour barrier, not just some visqueen? The vapour barrier goes on the warm side of insulation, always.

@joefowler9600 definatly on top of the taped insulation to stop moisture condensation to the concrete floor

Should you not glue both sides of t&g. Only gluing the top allows flexing and seeking

It’s because it’s a floating you glue the joints but put no Fixiings in👍 Thanks for watching

no membrane against the concrete/ screed, didnt tape the joints on the PIR.......LOL
@joefowler96002 жыл бұрын
Why would you need a membrane between insulation and concrete?
@BrummyTom2 жыл бұрын
@@joefowler9600 concrete is porous. Moisture in the ground can come through it. Membrane is cheap and you only get one chance to do it so makes sense to just put some down. However with this insulation the top layer is moisture proof if you tape the joints. He taped one but forgot to tape the rest. Chipboard can warp when exposed to moisture as it expands. It would be less likely if he left more of an expansion gap but the expansion gap is tiny here. We don’t know the subfloor detail, this guy might aware that there is a DPM under the concrete. Even so he’s missed a few chances to further protect the new floor.
@joefowler96002 жыл бұрын
@@BrummyTom there is a layer of dpm between the concrete and the ground. That concrete wont get moisture from the ground. He's done nothing wrong here, this is exactly how architects design floating floors and building control approve this design.

Hi , which glue did you use ?
@BuildingwithBudd2 жыл бұрын
The polyurethane type that expands, I find it a lot better than normal PVA , it’s a bit more money but it just works better on those boards, cheers for watching 👍👍

Hi Robin. Two types of glue are available. Egger PU Joint & joist adhesive or Caberfix D5. Have a look on ebay if you dont want to pay £16 a bottle. Just bear in mind expiry dates, as the shelf life is 6-12 months. I paid about £9 for the Egger glue, which is a purple colour, which then foams up after 20 mins. Just an additional note is that the manfacturer recommends glue on the groove as well as the tongue. I you want a link to the ebay glue, then i can post one up
