I have literally watched dozens of Layla tutorial videos for months practicing and by far this video is the absolute best! On this video you can actually see every finger position for every note to be played while in other videos at times it is very difficult to see what finger is being played. Thank you Jon.

Interestingly, the original “Layla” was supposed to be acoustic but Duane Allman came up with this opening riff and the song was transformed into the rocker that it is. 20 years later Clapton performed it as it was supposed to be originally, as an acoustic song!

This is a terrific breakdown of a classic song-even the coda which was a piano piece which sounds great on the guitar. By the way the piano piece is credited to Jim Gordon, the drummer in the band. His girlfriend years earlier was the singer Rita Coolidge. She claims the piano tune is music she wrote with a bit of help from Jim. She was never credited on the album.

Fantastic as usual 👍🏼 when I listen closely with headphones, I really get the feeling that the main riff is done in two separate tracks. The transition from the single note riff into the chording is too fast. The three chords seem to start simultaneously with the last note of the single note riff
