I think Pauline is going to be struggling with the reality that the kiss meant more to her even though she said it was just a "goodbye" kiss.

Yeah, it was like a little "plot twist". Layla looked just pleasantly surprised, while Pauline looked shocked. Usually, it's the other way around - the younger one is shocked...
