Geoff's bass support in "Know Who You Are" is so ethereal. The slides he makes are just pure and otherworldly.

If you read through the video comment section, you will find some comments regarding the Polynesian. As in approval from native speakers. Yes, they do not have the accents that a native speaker would, but the pronunciation is spot on. Polynesian in Moana, Zulu in their Lion King Medley, Korean in the Boy Bands in Five, whatever they do, they always do it right.

Yeah, this was in the interim between Tony's departure and the addition of JNone as a permanent member of the group. Also, what makes you think that your patrons vote for things they think you can handle? When I'm able to become one of your patrons, I am in _no_ way going to vote for things that you can "handle," I'm going to vote for things that will blow you away!

We all love all the singers they collaborate with, but Rachel is top of the podium. She is a sensational singer with so much character and emotion to her voice. Please check out VP+ Rachel doing Attention by Charlie Puth, she destroys it!
@SweetCuttlefish-AshleyE Жыл бұрын
The dance remixes are done by Layne, and some of them are available if you're the right level on Patreon, but not all. I don't think I've seen the Phantom of the Opera, but you should be able to find Shiny and Where You Are. Layne also used to rap fairly often in the early days. I highly recommend the ACA Top 10 Old School Rap. And yeah, Rachel was one of their very first collaborators. I think she is the first one in a KZbin video, actually.

I must have seen this about 20 times before a reactor pointed it out, and no one ever spots it - but a little secret hidden gem of this video!! When Geoff is singing his main part, Eli takes over the bass!!! He's incredible!!! I'm just letting you know for if you do watch it again in your spare time - you'll see Eli leaning in really close to the mic to get the full bass sound. It's fab ❤ Also, love your reaction, as always!
@rhov-anion Жыл бұрын
In live performances, Eli does the bass line, which really shows that Eli has an insane range as well (they ALL do!) but for the studio recording it's Geoff's voice.
@rulab Жыл бұрын
Yeah, Eli is just mouthing the bass line in this video because of the fact that Layne felt it looked weird when no one was mouthing it. The voice you hear is Geoff...
@leme35039 ай бұрын
He does not.. he lip syncs it because he had nothing else to sing, as soon as he does have a part to sing again, nobody is technically 'singing' the bass line. As to what you said after: _"you'll see Eli leaning in really close to the mic to get the full bass sound"._ You know that they record this beforehand right? This is a music video, they're not singing live, they're all just lip syncing? The mics are just props for the video? Just.. making sure, 'cause I'm doubting it.

Pre-Moana Rachel collaborations: I Knew You Were Trouble/As Long As You Love Me/All Around The World, Chandelier, Phantom, and Attention. Post-Moana: O Holy Night, Just Sing, Little Mermaid Medley, Kidnap the Sandy Claws, Wicked, Greatest Showman, and The Thanksgiving Song from Bob's Burgers (released to Instagram and TikTok). Yes, they learned to properly pronounce the Tokelauan lyrics for Know Who You Are the same way they learned the pronunciation of the Dovahzul language for The Dragonborn Comes. And VoicePlay patrons can watch the BTS and learn about Geoff's "seventeen shades of orange." Also, patrons can get copies of the "karaoke" version of many of the songs, as well as some alternate versions.

Actually, Eli was only lip syncing the bass line for the video. It's actually Geoff double-tracked, singing both parts.
@rhov-anion Жыл бұрын
Eli is just mimicking what he does for live stage performances for the sake of the video, but you can tell that's definitely Geoff's bass. You can hear there's this little scoop to some of the notes, kind of a bad habit or stylistic choice that Geoff does. It annoys some "vocal purist" reactors, but I love it, it's a uniquely GEOFF sound. I really want to see a live performance and actually hear Eli's bass range. The dude is just too talented, and they all have insane ranges.
@marshayoung9387 Жыл бұрын
No, Eli actually does fill in the bass line while Geoff sings. He is that good & has a in wide range.
@Debs_Badger Жыл бұрын
@@marshayoung9387 When they have performed live, yes, absolutely he has. *However* in the track they are lip syncing to for the Moana Medley, while Eli is lip syncing the bass part in the video, the *actual* track is Geoff double-tracked. Layne confirmed this himself.

The outro music on VP's videos is often a clip from the song's karaoke track, which is a Patreon perk. Yes, that's Eli the tenor (and voice actor) covering the bass line while Geoff is singing lead. That they learned a bit of Polynesian to get the pronunciation correct here is just part of their attention to detail, like learning some Zulu for Lion King and Japanese (or is it Korean?) for Boy Bands (although Eli already spoke Japanese). Adam Rupp of Home Free is the one who learned a bit of Korean to do Gangnam Style. It's in a Guilty Pleasures video that an audience member recorded. He even does the dance! This video is easy to date. Tony is gone, so it's after 2016. J.None has not yet joined, so it's before 2018. Geoff started growing out his hair shortly before his son was born in the spring, so they filmed this mid to late 2017. When they filmed Attention with Rachel, Baby Lucci was a newborn. I think it's funny that Geoff spends that video hanging out at the bar with his feet up. Anyone who has parented a newborn baby understands why. 🤣🤣

Eli is fluent in... I want to say Mandarin? It was mention in one of the Covid-era chat videos. So I would love to hear them sing a Chinese song. Plus now we have Cesar who melts me when he sings in Spanish. We NEED more Spanish love songs from Cesar. Bésame Mucho, Te amo, Amor eterno, Sin Pijama, Por el amor de una mujer.... or imagine Cesar singing "Hips Don't Lie" both the English and Spanish parts while doing a sassy shaking of his hips. It would need to be a short, because otherwise I would die laughing.

Layne can rap? There is an older video in which he is what I believe is known as spitting bars.
