Jason Nice update If we tried to make our railroad prototypical we would never be able to run the trains the way we like. We need to look at our layout and review the size restrictions we all have one way or another. Looking forward to seeing more updates along the way.

Cool update Jason. Nice repurpose of the boxes. What is the height of your upper layout?

Thanks JD! I can't remember but it comes up to my chin and I am 5'10".

Nice update! You have a great looking layout! Just curious, how did you pick your era?
@TheTrainFreak Жыл бұрын
Thanks New Haven! It's kind of a long story but I started off with 1960. Then after doing research because I want to be prototypical on my operations, I had to back it up to 1958. There are some things I am choosing to not be prototypical on but eh, I would never be able to find a perfect year.

Couple questions Jason… Why did you have to replace the peco dbl crossovers? Do you have to have any speed restrictions on those dbl crossovers vs regular crossovers?
@TheTrainFreak Жыл бұрын
I didn't have to replace any turnout of any type. I wanted to since I am working on my NMRA achievement program certificates. Peco turnouts are great, no doubt but also expensive and I have a lot of turnouts on my plan and its much cheaper to build than to buy, providing you have the time to spare.
@KenN.OXN.805 Жыл бұрын
@@TheTrainFreak ahhhh, your one of those higher achiever guys.😊 Hate to ask again, but is there speed restrictions using dbl crossovers vs standard turnouts? Assuming the train is heading straight and not into diverging. I would think fairly significant.
@TheTrainFreak Жыл бұрын
Think of crossovers as a combo of turnouts. Anytime you take a quick diverge such as a turnout that can't be super elevated, the train has to slow down to a medium speed otherwise inertia would take over and cause the train to lay on it's side.

Voice controlled routing, no more buttons. Problem solved. What about tablets for JMRI panels, makes modifications easy.
@TheTrainFreak Жыл бұрын
I would entertain tablets for operations. That would also help me save toner and paper too!
@HumancityJunction Жыл бұрын
@@TheTrainFreak Let's be honest, at the critical moment when you have people coming over for an ops session is when your printer will refuce to work. So digital is defintiely a better way to go.
