The bulk sugar car probably had the doors boarded up and the sugar actually filled the entire inside of the boxcar and they shoveled it out to unload them. Anthony hooked y'all up! Nice! 👍

the sawmill complex is developing nicely! it seems that no matter what, a layout of some size is gonna have leveling issues in one spot or another. wow! love that NYC stuff! Anthony did you right man. that's a ton of awesome rolling stock. cool vid Jason! :)

Great update and haul from GSB. I had that issue on my last layout with the middle of the layout sagging. Result from taking shortcuts and lack of bracing. Lessons learned.
@TheTrainFreak Жыл бұрын
Thanks Ron! I agree with that but sometimes the lumber it self is warped and you can add as much bracing as you want but if the lumber is warped, that doesn't help.

Looks good and you always lay a level the length of the track and shim the track up to the bottom of the level just a thought
@TheTrainFreak Жыл бұрын
Thanks! If it was just a piece of plywood being a hair shorter than the next piece, I would agree with that but this whole sheet isn't level due to a sag. Shims won't fix that unfortunately.

Thanks James! I don't care for those clips either but you can replace those with Kadee coupler boxes and screw them in.

You should really do like you said about using very little ballast on those tracks especially the further they go onto the complex. You know how much bark and debris fall off of logs and how the wood chips will be everywhere. The track going through a area that is graveled for vehicle traffic would have just the rails exposed and they'd be level with the graveled area. The side tracks will be full of dirt from years of bark and wood decomposing over the track with lots of bits of bark and wood splinters and chips too and plenty of weeds and low grass patches included with very little ballast exposed. I've got a watch list on my channel titled Bad Track On Purpose. It's a watch list made up of videos other people have put out on how they have made terriblely neglected track with some even have the rails all wavy side to side up and down and each rail in different direction in some place but kept in gauge somehow. Also videos of just embedding the track into the scenery like I talked about above. I've made a bunch of playlist of model railroading information as sort of a reference for myself and others of many different people's videos showing their techniques on different things about model railroading. I've got a Ways To Make Trees playlist with 170 different videos of people making trees in all different ways and species. But anyway check out the bad track on purpose playlist it might give you some ideas. This is going to be an awesome scene on your layout with some good switching action and lots of fun. Good video. 👍
@TheTrainFreak Жыл бұрын
Thanks William! You were kind of reading my mind as I was saying it on the video. Those ties aren't going to be shown except where it comes in off the mainline and probably that one switch over by the teepee burner between the points. I'll go check out your playlist on that bad track.
