Dark Crisis or dark crisis on infinite earths happens BEFORE lazarus planet. Dark crisis was for the most part pointless (it did bring back infinite earths, we saw confirmation of True form Darkseid and the Great Darkness (well a tiny tiny fraction of it) but mostly Pariah's work). It can be mostly ignored. Also for those wondering the whole Failsafe arc happens BEFORE Dark crisis which occurs before Lazarus planet.

Read batman /superman world's finest (2022) issues 1-5 , robin lazarus tournament, batman vs robin (issues 1-4) , then lazarus planet alpha. Then lazarus planet assault on krypton and lazarus planet once we were gods. The last two are more like tie ins/ explanation of side characters (exploring the effects of lazarus eruption around earth). These are one shots focused on what is happening to earth and other side characters. These one shots are weekly issues. Also, monkey prince. Basically, lazarus planet: Assault on Krypton, We Once Were Gods, Legends Reborn, Next Evolution (not out yet), Dark Fate(not out yet) are one shot tie ins and dont cover the main-main plot. The main ones are basically lazarus planet alpha, lazarus planet omega (not yet released) and batman vs robin 5 (not yet released).

As a life long fan and 25 year comic retailer, I really feel this is DC's last chance to turn things around. If they don't show a significant improvement, I think Warner/Discovery will shutter the publishing wing and farm out characters to other publishers for a fee.

I mean, I agree from a reader standpoint, we need that Rebirth level of give a darn again. But from a sales perspective, they only lost 2% market share, from 29 to 27 in the last 4 years. Considering the entire industry broke 2 billion in 2021, they aren't doing that badly. Which honestly is baffling to me because they've felt so aimless and all over for years now. But apparently that only means losing 2% of your readers, the rest of us just clinging on and hoping lol

@@comicstorian The comic industry, as we know it, is on life support. They are doing horribly and anyone who tells you otherwise is either lying to you or doesn't know what they're talking about. Covid gave a lot of passive entertainment industries a bump, but it's not indefinite and it's starting to disappear. It was just a reprieve. But this is nothing new. The industry has been losing readership for the last 40 years. It's not just the crappy stuff in the last 5-10 that has been causing a downturn. When my dad was a kid in the 40s a comic was 12 cents. Thirty years later, when I was a kid in the 70s a comic was 25 cents. Fast forward 30 years later and a comic was nearly $3. And it's just been going up. That's not inflation or production costs, it's a shrinking market being supported on the backs of a smaller readership. This doesn't mean comics will disappear, but the current configuration cannot be sustained.

@@pakemorford4400 The publishers used to offer subscriptions. When I was a kid, comic shops were kind of a new thing. You usually bought comics off a spinner rack at a convenience store or you subscribed straight from the publisher. I did that for a couple of years and would check the mail box excitedly for the brown wrapper package with this months comics.

This is actually interesting, because Pigsy and King Fire Bull are both mentioned in Journey to the West, a classic of Chinese literature. Pigsy is one of the main protagonists helping the monkey prince, Sun-Wukong and the monk, Tripitaka.

As someone who is a huge fan of Neil Adam's Batman art, I'm so happy to see Batman wearing his classic blue, grey, and yellow oval, even if it's only for a small flashback. I don't care if it's impossible, I want DC to attempt to make a live action suit use the classic design and be taken seriously. Maybe give the blue a metallic shine and be a dark lapis blue to help hide in the shadows while being vibrant in the light.

I’m suprised they haven’t done any issues with VR games that attract demons and allow the user power in exchange for being a vessel from time to time until they get a stronger body. Or someone could find a way to put artificial powers into people through VR or something so that if the Justice League is busy fighting or lost some where more people can survive and protect themselves and others. I really want more animated shows like young justice, and Batman the animated series from the 90s those show really good writing, and if they are going to make another Batman Arkham kinght style game we need a prequel comic for a taste of the game.

I ended up reading Lazarus Planet Alpha because of this video. That led to me reading Monkey Prince. Man I LOVE Monkey Prince, it's just so much fun. While it features other DC characters it doesn't feel like you need to read any other book to enjoy it. Even though Marcus is in the LP event so far it doesn't seem to have any major ramifications that would force you to read LP if you didn't want to. The tie in for LP is also very well written as it's primary focus is on the reveal of Marcus' grandfather, him majorly crushing on Supergirl, and learning his cloning ability.

the Monkey Prince in question is the son of the legendary Monkey King Sun Wukong (Son Goku) though I'm not sure if their relationship can be considered that since recent issues reveal Monkey Prince (Marcus) was magically born from a rock just like his dad the Devil Nezha (Nataku) was revealed to be the one who began the whole Lazarus Pit and we also meet Ruh Al Ghul, mother of Ra's Al Ghul, guess the Al Ghul family is deeply connected to the Lazarus Pit

Thanks for the recap! The thing is I stopped reading because of bad stories. Stuff like the aging up of Jonathon, the death of Alfred and such. Combined with everything pushing toward yet another large event. That once again resets things in another crossover. Nearly always with a dead horse they beat like the Batman Who Laughs. I liked the stuff at the start of Rebirth. It was solid and characters stood alone. I loved it! Wanted more of that.

At least with the MCU, you go from one movie to the next, or one movie, then the a tv show's Season 1, then another movie, etc. The ArrowVerse? Go from every 1st season of a show, then a crossover, then every 2nd season or so. But comics? Jeez, gotta keep up with a number of issues of various stories. Yeah I'm not exactly certain there's any new powers that can give Superman. He's basically here tomorrow from time-space manipulation time-travel instantaneous movement, shape-shifting, Mass hypnosis, mind control period heck with the sword of Superman he was merely forcibly merged with the universe as a whole. And well as far as I know he's never possessed the speed force but he's had speed shared with him by Wally West on occasion. On top of that Not only was he buried in the source and forth remember aspects of basically every DC story he had any part in and a few I'm pretty sure he didn't he actually escaped The Source the burial ground of the new gods and probably the old gods as well. At this point all they can do is literally figure out which Powers would not be too busted for Superman to relearn and half amuse them and lesser degree than when you first had them except for his Avatar power. His habit our power was basically rock-bottom at the start

Velmont is dead anyway (for good hopefully). And never was a fan of Bat and Cat. It should be Bruce and Zatanna going forward imo. We even had some Batman urban legends backstory. Or keep it with Batman and Talia where Talia seems to be no longer insane and more the old Talia pre-Damian behavior of drugging Bruce which is the Talia everyone liked anyway.

@@moshymosh let me rephrase. i am referring to Talia before crazy shit. She was always loyal to Ra's but did love Bruce. However, then people started writing her as straight up villain but became more "normal" very recently. It was on her interactions towards both Damian and Bruce. That is the Talia i was referring too (like current Talia in Batman vs Robin and Lazarus planet). I think it wasnt just a kiss that happened during end of Shadow War between Bruce and Talia. I suspect there was more (they ended up fucking but not mentioned but i suspect this is what happened). Hence, why in Batman vs robin we see a more "good" Talia at least in her interactions with both Damian and Bruce. Yeah, Velmont is dead by the hands of Catwoman herself who is now in prison lmao. Catwoman even says she wants Bruce and thinks of Bruce but later says she liked Velmont but end goal was Bruce. Like wtf make up your fucking mind. Also, Zatanna was my 1st pick and Non deranged Talia as 2nd pick (not the crazy one). Yeah, the Talia that had slade against Bruce and shit. Nah NOT THAT Talia. NEVER that one. Lmao i am not insane. Also, at the time Bruce called technically Velmont and Catwoman hadnt fucked yet. They went on a mission after that phone call. Then towards end of the mission they fucked. Not that it makes it any better. Especially since catwoman admits she wants Bruce as end goal lmao. Conflicted bs. The writer Tini needs to get her shit together. I feel most writers overall in comic book industry need to get it together. Also, i wanted this aspect to see the return of super sons (Damian, child jonathan kent, Bruce, Clark , Lois and Talia) interactions. Even though they fucking aged Jonathan Kent for no reason and robbed us of super sons. Think about it both parents from each son team up and show detective work. Clark and Lois via investigative reporting and journalists and Clark being superman obviously, Batman being Batman and Talia the daughter of Ra's who founded league of assasins and league of shadows(infiltration). It could have been an interesting dynamic and mini-arc for character growth on all sides. This was the main reason i wanted a non deranged Talia (not completely good, still an assassin) but not a lunatic. Also, it could have meant something "normal" and not a completely dysfunctional family per the usual trope.

The Talia Bruce pair up has long been abandoned for clear reasons and there is no way of saving her. I don't know what to tell you other than try to understand the motives behind why everyone knows to steer away from Talia. I guess you are fixated on this weird ship like Bruce Timm was trying to fix Bruce Wayne and Barbara Gordon together and what James Tynion wanted to do before his days as a writer by skipping Tim Drake and Connor Kent. It's terrible. Remove the idea from your brain. It is not happening in a million years. I'm sorry. But it just is.

Basically Thawne showed up and stomped Hunter Zolomon and was like, bitch I'm reverse Flash and basically schooled him. It also might be tied to Daniel West Reverse Flash from the new 52 that basically got wrecked by the others. But ya it's at the end of one of the runs, they made a big deal that Thawne was back to claim the throne
