In my point of view it's like something you would indeed hear inside a colliseum but as someone who would be enjoying the battle events not someone who would participate in the battles. Or it could also be a lobby for those who would battle. They would be in there just waiting for their turn to fight with the others battlers while a duo would be in the arena. Yes. I do fly a bit too high in this kind of thing.
