Other tracks did this too but, especially this track made me want to be taught by Michiru Yamane, I don't understand how she created this. Gothic but also chill, has Japan vibes too, masterpiece.
@fourkings_
@fourkings_ 3 жыл бұрын
Well, it's a fairly simple composition to he honest. All the games back in the day had simple but effective music in them. The idea is that you create something with only a limited amount of instruments who all represent something that goes back to the game itself. Yamane has choosen the flute because its an fragile, soothing instrument. The organ afterwards nearly shreds it to pieces, like an evil, that does not belong into this world. Like dracula. The bass and the piano have calming effects to the listener, almost romantic and erotic. Which is an clear reference to alucard and how demons appear as beautiful beings. If you limit yourself to the core aspects, like aesthetics and characteristics, it almost becomes an easy task if you offer the amount of talent needed ofcourse. This is an incredible soundtrack that does nothing but staying true to the world it comes from. And that makes it so amazing up to this day. It's even better now because soundtracks are becoming more and more generic now.

@JewelOfSoul 2 жыл бұрын
That's a interesting comment, however, I don't understand why some people say this song is somewhat erotic, I never heard it that way and still don't (and don't want to, lul).
@akumajou

@@JewelOfSoul whaat? same, but I guess it's an aesthetic like eroticism
@akumajou
@akumajou 2 жыл бұрын
@@fourkings_ wow, such a great explanation thank you so much, I'm sad that I see your comment now... I totally agree to what you say. Apparently you have a great knowledge about this, can you give some further readings for this, like sensing and understanding the reason why those instruments are used and how does it bind with the games aesthetics, how and what instruments effect peoples souls... etc?
@fourkings_
@fourkings_ 2 жыл бұрын
@@akumajou No worries. Big Text here, skip if not interested. I have been a fan of soundtracks since I was little. I went further than most people and decided to get into actual music production. I also had the pleasure to get in touch with some of my favoured composers of all time. Like Akira Yamaoka, David Wise, Nobuyoshi Sano, Yuu Miyake and so on. Akira Yamaoka's work for the Silent Hill series is a good starting point if you want to dig deeper on this whole topic. Especially Silent Hill 2. To answer your question, let's take this track right here as an example. In theory, any instrument can affect the listener. That is only in theory tho. Imagine the score for SoTN would be full of Synths and 4/4 Beats... Would that appear to be fitting? Probably not. The tracks could be the same. The soundtrack would still be a massive failure. Why is that? Well, pretty simple. If you take the setting of the entire game and all it's elements, you will find yourself in an medieval setting. Synth's and Drumloops don't fit that specific era. But guitars, flutes, organs, strings and pianos do. (Vampires do fit into the metal genre for example). That alone would be a starting point for one to work on a project > Understand time and the setting, BEFORE you start working on it. What follows, would be the actual work process which ofcourse, is highly subjective and impossible to explain in detail since everyone has a different workflow. But if I had to take a guess, If I was Yamane and my setting would have been a cave full of demons... I would have probably started with an sample of water dripping with some reverb to give it an room-like effect. A sample like you can hear in this track in the background if you pay very close attention. Arrange it, so that it makes sense, and go from there. Congrats, you are now in the actual process of creating, based on an idea you had! Now things get tricky, because now it get's personal! Yamane's signature is all over that score. Just like Akira Yamaoka's music is noticeable on the spot without knowing if it's actually him or not. Same goes for Nobuyoshi Sano and everything he did for the Tekken 3 soundtrack. Or Keiichi Okabe and his imprint on the NieR: Automata score... You get the point. That is an artists signature, it's what makes him an artist and lifts him up from the masses. He pours heart into it, and with that he makes his work timeless. Just like this soundtrack.

@@JoseMorenoComposer No worries. You're good to use. That's my answer. To be perfectly honest, I'm perplexed into why KZbin allows for the option to turn off Shorts Remixing. If a short can be created, in spite of, then the option not to doesn't matter. If it doesn't matter, then what is the point of adding such a mechanism? Is it to give people the illusion of choice? Your simple request fostered a lot of questions...lol
