Interesting point, when lazerpig talks about the Australian tank being shelved because the Australians needed train carriges he might be misinterpreting the fact that the parts for all the tanks were built in everligh, which was the main train yard in Sydney. Australia comparatively had alot of light industry and alot of smelting and such for materials processing, but everligh was one of the few places that both had the ability to do heavier industrial manufacturing and the experienced workers to do it. Hence everligh did alot of Australia's production, then because it was literally the center of Sydneys train network it shipped the parts it made out to smaller factories to actually do the final assembly. They made everything from tanks, to trains, to naval guns, to shells ammo and spare parts for other military equipment, as well as the industrial equipment to let others make the same parts.

33:30 Do need to do a minor correction here, British tanks could fire HE and AP shells out their guns like the Matilda 2, its just the 2pdr gun had a very bad HE round so it was never issued because it was useless, so British tanks only rolled out with AP shells, so they could fire HE shell they just never had to shells to begin with.

45:09 Yes, German and Finns used KV-1/-2 in limited capacity. Mostly do to lack of spare parts and quantity of ammunition. KV-1 in particular was designated as “Panzer KV-IA 753(r)(“r” is for “Russian”).” Plus Royal Romanian Army also started using KV-1 (along other donated Soviet vehicles), after they switched sides in August 1944.

35:41 So their is a story to the art on the tank, during the Korean War the US painted the tigers on their tanks, in fact you will find all kinds of designs on the US tanks through the war if you look them up and the crews really enjoyed painting them and on some of them i think they went over board. But the reason wasn't to look cool, the reason was for psychological warfare, the tiger is seen a symbol of superiority in Korea and during 1950-1951 it was the year of the Tiger for both the Chinese and North Koreans, so the US thought that the tanks with the painted tiger's would scare the superstitious Chinese and North Korean troops, its not clear how effective the paint was in actually scaring the North Korean's and Chinese, but they do look cool.

45:01 The KV's were likely the origin of the Soviet tanks needing 88mm's to kill them not the T-34's.

12:03 Its likely a case of both WW2 tankers, esspecially British and American tankers, would very often modifiy their tanks and bolt extra stuff to them like crazy, thats why you see some tanks carrying logs on the side.

11:03 he’s not actually right with this tank, whilst yes the tank he’s describing does exist this tank is the M4A3 105 it was essentially just the “easy 8” Sherman with a 105 howitzer.

5:25 So in a Finnnish museum they have the only BT-42 in the world (Which was a weridly modified captured BT-7 from the Soviets) and the museum was starting to get a lot of Japanese people visiting the place, which they thought was a bit odd but paid no mind, then the museum needed cash and they got a large donation from Japanese people, this got the Fin's to look into why the intrest in Japan and the reason was the Anime series Girls Und Panzer had it and its bit of a fan favourite so they donated to help save the tank. Also Girls Und Panzer is actually quite a good watch.

56:55 It supposed to be turret for machine gun. Some tanks were equipped with them, while some replaced them with these “knots”. All because tankers told manufacturers stop produce them, since shooting from them was difficult task anyway. But because the entire hull for these tanks were made as one solid piece, they could not remove turret without damaging the whole construction. So…Yeah. Ozzies made overall okayish, but wacky looking tanks.

13:36 So Japan had a land based version of the Kai-Ten's and Kamikaze's, which was basically a very long stick with a bomb on the end which you ran at the tank and the bomb and you blew up, this seems to be Germany's worse answer, because yes its protected and has more boom, but you are a larger target where as Japan's stick bombs you could at least hide in a door way and run out at the last second with it and you can hide a human much easier then this thing.
