I remember watching a youtube video by the wota who's known to have brought it into the modern idol scene (as one blog states that it originated in the rock/metal band scene), and he talked about how he and his friends would start mixing at ZONE concerts in the late 90's (yes, the band that sang the Secret Base song in 2001) to let off steam and get hype. The fact that this happened in Hokkaido explains why the third MIX ("chant") is in the Ainu language. The one Pomu does for DCL is called the Kahen Sanren MIX, which google translates to, uhhh, three variable mix, which basically means it mashes together the three standard mixes, the English one, the Japanese one, and the Ainu one.
