Lazy dawn chorus in the African bush - Sounds of nature

Lazy morning with soft birdsong in the African savanna.
The birds aren't very excited about another scorching day in the bush, but they don't have much of a choice. Most of them are quietly foraging before the heat of the day becomes unbearable. A handful of species have not given up on song and can be heard calling half-heartedly.
The bees however are not taking any breaks. There's a peak of activity around 5-6 am when they go out and try to get as much as possible done. They stop over at little waterholes and then go on their merry way. Luckily the sausage trees are in flower, which they seem to love. Their buzzing can be mistaken for anthropophony in places, but there's no traffic in this area for many miles in any direction.
Recorded in South Luangwa National Park, Zambia. Enjoying the videos I upload on here? Feel free to support me by:

I sit in the cold winter of Scotland listening to this as a background to my working day and it brings me back to my years spent living and working in the African bush (mainly in Kenya, Ethiopia, Sudan and South Sudan) when I was more field-based and less desk-bound. Thanks for warming up my cold days and reminding me of what I am missing. Those sudden calls of the Hadada Ibis particularly are very evocative.

I recently got some new headphones. I was listening to this channel before, while working. Anyway, getting back to it with a pair of headphones with decent imaging and soundstage made me appreciate how absolutely stunning these recordings really are. Now I just find myself contemplating them rather than using them as a background. They're incredible.

Thank you for the kind words, glad to hear you are experiencing these recordings on good headphones. KZbin's compression isn't great but the compromise is worth reaching so many listeners.

The bird used to illustrate this soundscape does not look real, I have never seen any bird from anywhere with this coloration! It cheapens the soundscape and dishonors the birds which are in serious danger of extinction. I am disappointed, Mr Vlad...

It’s a Lilac breasted roller - Coracias caudatus.

I stand corrected then! And once again, I owe you a debt of gratitude for bringing such beautiful soundscapes to my/our attention! Sorry I doubted your authenticity, but only in the art... never your sounds! @@GeorgeVlad

Certainly it's real! The Lilac breasted roller and the Abyssinian roller are relatively common birds of the African bush and savannah. Really beautiful birds!

Always love these dawn choruses! +10 points for casually dropping the word "anthropophany."

I haven't used the M10 in a long time. This was captured with the Sony A10 and Clippy mics. I only have a pair of Lom mics left unfortunately.

normally I am not a big fan of the "lazy" type of nature soundscapes as the mood always seems to rub off on me and then I don't get nothing done 😅, but this one is really nice!
