I'm a Minor so I can't exactly get a job and help my parents out, but hey, I do my best to pull my weight. My mom offers me funds for my Cosplay, which I appreciate a whole lot, but at the end of it, I decline. She needs the money for our support than I need it for my Cosplay. I pretty much just save up my allowance and work summer jobs to provide for my Cosplay props, wigs, accessories, and actual costumes :)

It's not that I don't have money, it's that I'd rather spend $10 on a cool poster than see I movie I've never even heard of with my friends, therefore, I save my money so I can buy my dorky Anime stuff. I'm 24 and due to mental problems am living at home and fighting to get on disability. If you are tired of dealing with drama I'd suggest moving away from people because all people bring drama eventually.

I hate seeing people unhappy or hurting, BUT we can only help if they want help and are trying to improve, those are the best people because they appreciate it and try to put it into action. I wish I could get a job but it's super hard when you're a minor and have never worked before. So far now my only income is Artist Alley sales. It's a wee bit frustrating when those people who have the age and work experience to get a job go on about not having money but don't get a job. It's gonna be tough funding cosplay and college tuition when you're still trying to enter the world of working.

I agree with you 100%. I met up with people who I was friends with, from Deviant Art. All they wanted to do was have a drama fest, and pit me and my best friend against each other. It made me really upset that they hardly knew me, but they had the nerve to try and ruin my weekend. Maybe you shouldn't judge people going through hardships if you are not with them 24/7. Maybe they have some serious illness, maybe they are being abused and discriminated against, and maybe they are depressed. If you are going to judge people this harsh at least provide some backstory. Otherwise people depressed and without motivation take this personally. I think you know that it's not just to straighten up when your depressed. Be careful! Also could you please tell us your dreams in the next video like this?

I agree with this statement 100% because as a person who has autism and hearing loss along with mental illness, it’s very hard to find a job unless I go through a job training program for people with disabilities, but even then, they don’t do much help when it comes to finding a job. I have been busting my butt looking and applying for a job nonstop and even been updating my resume and website, but sadly most employers out there discriminate people with disabilities, especially when it comes to autism where research stated that over 80% of people with autism are unemployed. People accuse me of being “lazy” when it’s not true. If they had a disability and mental illness, then they would understand. It’s the fact that people like us face a lot of discrimination in the job market.

This is totally like my best friend. Not a cosplayer but one that complains about wanting something and never having the funds for it. She is constantly spending money on fast food and other junk she doesn't need. Then turns around on me saying, "I want to move out of my parents, but I cant do it without you." B*** you can, you just wont save for it. I am not in a position to be moving out at the moment. I'm attending school and that takes all of my money. UUUUGH, so annoying lol. I mean I love her to death, she is my best friend but her constant nagging of things that can be avoided is beyond annoying. Yeah, I totally get that. I'm still at living with family, but there are other cosplayers that don't that I follow. Those cosplayers mostly complain about having a "shit job" or being broke, but when they get to the con they have a TON of money out of nowhere. Like, I swear, their cosplay wigs are painted shreds of 100 dollar bills. But then afterwards they whine about it being over and how they hardly had money to buy anything. I bought almost nothing at my last con, too. People sometimes. I hear what you're saying.

I've seen this type of behavior from some cosplayers on more than one occasion, sadly. I agree with you, they can be fun people to hang out with but it's always better to have more positive people in your life. That can be easier said than done though, since some of the most mature-appearing people can cause drama, too. I applaud you for wanting to find more people who will teach you in life && have a positive impact on you. With your determination, I'm sure you'll do well! :]

Anyway, she could be quite fun to hang out with, but she was waaay too self-absorbed sometimes. I don't mind listening to other people talking, but it gets pretty annoying after awhile when the only thing they ever talk about are their shitty relationships, how low on money they are and how their life sucks in general.

And really, she's my good friend and all, but I've gotten sick of it. I've started to stop caring because she never takes my advice and constantly complains when she doesn't even do much to fix anything.

I actually have a friend like that about 5 years ago we started a cosplay group but never did anything cause she would always sit in front of her computer and "search" for cosplay ideas and during that time we only went to 1 con together, now she lives at home with her parents, no job and dropped out of college at the age of 20, even her parents refuse to let her have the new internet security password and refused to let her have cable in her room because she doesn't help pay the bills

It's one of my biggest pet peeves is when people always whine about what they want but don't do any thing to get it like you said. On another point on what you said, a lot of my friends are like that. A lot of them are full of drama and whining and hate their life while they aren't doing anything to help it. The problem is... I had this friend who'd always guilt me into buying her food. She was always using her money on buying new games so she never had money for food. I told her she should make her lunch, use her money better or get a job, but she'd call me a bad friend when I would refuse to pay for her stuff. One time I caved and got her something and then later saw she had $20 in her wallet even though she said she was broke. So, no longer friends with her.

I've submitted so many applications to so many stores and restaurants but I still haven't found a job... not even McDonald's wants me. lol I'm still in high school so my family supports me financially so it's still not an urgent issue. What really sucks is that I also try so hard in school and am so unlucky(horrible test taker) and all the friends that I have that are failing in school and partying and doing bad stuff with their lives all seem to have jobs or they're super spoiled by their parents so it's not like they even need a job. And, if they get fired, in a week they'll have a new job. It makes me so mad. Why?????

Thank you for this video. The guy that's like this in my life just drives me insane and I have to see him everyday. I am a prop maker, I make any prop for cosplay or film. That's my business, and my dad does it too ( I learned from him). It's a craft. And this guy, sits at my lunch table everyday, can't get rid of him cause he is a friend of a friend who sits there. He has a freaking 3D Printer that his parents bought for him. And he literally said to me one time " I have a 3D Printer, so anything I make will always be better than anything you will ever make." O__O and yet the photos that he has shown me of his "masterpieces" are him, coloring his face with sharpie, using boxes as wigs, and his printed stuff? He doesn't put any work into putting it together, there is not a single ounce of effort put into any of his stuff. -___- and then he goes and throws fits when I'm making things for future cosplays, or when I am going to conventions that he can't go to, or I've bought things (with my own money earned from my business). Makes me wanna slam my head into the table until its lights out for me. Sorry for venting, I just haven't really seen a video where a youtuber actually states this exact message. Thank you.

This is so true and it's not just cosplayers. I don't cosplay and I don't know any cosplayers but I stumbled upon this video and there is a lot of truth to it. I'm in college and live with my parents and I feel guilty and lazy about that. I'm guilty of the half assed job search but my social anxiety limits me there. If I was just sitting around with no direction at all I would feel so awful. At least I mow our goddamn enormous lawn (with a push mower). But I could be trying harder in the summer.

I'm unemployed and living with my mom but I send in apps everyday and follow up. Part of the reason I'm living with my mom is because she's disabled and needs help doing certain things and the other is minimum wage is not livable money and I would rather assist my mom and have a place to stay than struggle just trying to take care of myself. When a con rolls around I either do work for a friend or sell some stuff to get my *own* money just for the badge. If I can't pay for it myself then no go

I worked for six months barely spending anything so I could afford college, as well as anime conventions this year and next. I have a friend who is always complaining about not being able to go because she can't put a cosplay together in time, yet when I offer to help her out, since I sew and she doesn't, she starts making up other excuses. I know A LOT of people that are like that. I use to have friends like that, but I can't put up with that for too long. A few people in my family are that too and well I'm stuck with them =P lol I think people find it easy to want and dream, but don't care to attempt chasing after it. Sorry for your mental problems. I have family who struggle with that same thing and also working on getting on Disability. It's tough. Thou your in a different situation and you have no choice. I'm the only person in my circle of friends and family that even knows what cosplay is. I've only done it once and i love it! i dont have the body for the more scandalous characters but im pretty confident in my physique and cant wait to dress as Tony Tony Chopper this year! i invested in a really well made kigurumi and top hat♥

Yes! I know a cosplayer who has no job, isn't in school and relies on her parents for money. @_@ I spent an entire year looking for a job, taking the time to go job hunting every month, and then I saw a new craft store open up and I even told her about it but she didn't put an application in at all she didn't even try, (I got the job with in a week!)

I'm 21, i work two jobs, i study and I live at home with my parents, brothers and sister. I don't have free time. cept, 11pm to 5am, then i sleep for a couple of hours and wake up for class at 9am-5pm or work at 1pm-11pm. My only day off is Wednesday. I hate my life, but luckily I'm an introvert, not interacting with others is fine by me. lol

I have this friend and we were going to do a cosplay together and make ours because we couldn't find anything, so we got everything and we each had a sewing machine. My mom said she was going to help me and told me she wasn't going to help my friend. My friend didn't do anything on hers and the night before I was done and she came over and wanted help the night before the convention! So I just let her borrow a dress because it just wasn't going to make it

I'm 16, and yesterday my training as a software developer started. Now I have to work 7-8 hours, but i'm enjoying it and I want to earn my own money, so I can buy myself my first cosplay
