Lazy River (Ohio's Windy 9)

Welcome to Pat's Adventures & Travels!
Today we take a lazy tour along the Ohio river on St Rt 124 mostly. The next chapter of the Ohio's Windy 9 series!

I really enjoyed this video. My wife and I are both from Pomeroy and now live about half way between Poneroy and Athens. I like RT 144 North of Rt 7 on a hot day, nothing like it. I have a freind in the area that has a collection of about 70 motorcycyles, mostly old BSA'a and Triumphs, some completely restored, a Restored 1947 Indian Chief, MV Augusta, Benelli, a few Harleys and others. It is an amazing collection. The Belleville Locks and Dam are name after the town of Belleville in West Virginia. I was the Pastor at the Reedsville UMC for 12 years. Just below Long Bottom, Ohio is a marker stating that George Washington surveyed the area before he was president. He commended on the long bottom fields along the river. That's where Long Bottom, Ohio got it's name. In Pomeroy, there is a Fox's Pizza Den that offers a beautiful view of the river and during good weather you can enjoy a meal while watching the boaters out on the river. The local McDonalds built a shelter house for motorcyclist to gather, rest, cool off, and talk about their adventures. The court house you passed is in the Rilpey's believe it or not. It is the only three story courhouse in the world that open up to ground level on all three stories.. There are no four way intersections in Pomeroy, just three way. (not counting the downtown parking lot). North of Pomeroy there is a very small community that is also in "Ripley's Believe It Or Not" called Snowville. (I get a kick out of this one) It seems that when Typhoid fever passed throught he area Snowville lost one third of all it's residents to Typhiod. There were nine people living there and three of them died. Ride safely and enjoy every journey.

It’s the Belleville locks because West Virginia owns the Ohio River where it boarders Ohio and West Virginia .Belleville is the town in WV that the locks are located
