I think $20 dollars is a bit steep for this day and age. Yes as compared to it's earlier Sims counterpart this is a steal for the amount of content, however... We live in an extremely gaming-competitive age now where less is more (Mass sales), it's becoming rarer and rarer to see people willing to drop top dollar on a AAA title let alone a little pack for a game. I bought it and I enjoy it but I don't know how the general audience will take to this with how many games were handed for pennies these days.

Am I the only person who is not bothered about loading screens when switching lots? I mean, it's better than your computer having difficulties keeping up with the loading of the models and the textures completely breaking the immersion of the game. Are the loading screens really that long that they break the game? Is 5-10 seconds of loading really too long, because I never got a loading screen that just dragged on and on making me want to close the game. But then it's just me, maybe I am just less requiring of my Sims games than other people are but whatever, I enjoy the game. But after giving it another shot recently (Along with the new expansion), I have to say... I'm hooked. The way mood works now feels a lot more entertaining, the visuals are nicer and the game is optimized a lot more (Clothes load instantly and no stutter during gameplay, no more waiting hours in CAS!) Though if you're quite demanding and refuse to play with less content than what you're used to, I'd reccomend you wait for the game to grow. It took 4 years for the Sims 3 to clean out every bug and have that much content.

@KentaSims938 жыл бұрын
I think the reason why Game Packs take longer is because they have more in them, there are a lot of new gameplay with Game Packs. The only reason why Dine Out took a long time was because they were having an issue with guests changing seats while dining, they really wanted to get that fixed, while guests will get up and move around they always return to the seat they were sitting in.

Janet Keen Yeah what's with that? I paid $39.99 at 9am this morning, felt ripped off and found the answer here. It's now 11pm and I haven't received my refund yet, I'm not too trusting where EA Games is involved. We may never get our money back.
@jessicawebster2149 жыл бұрын
It has always been like this for us. I remember laughing (also somewhat bitterly) in LGR's Sims 3 expansion reviews when he said US$40 (NZ$52) was too expensive, yet we had to pay US$54 (NZ$70).
@jessicawebster2149 жыл бұрын
sigthor1945 I think $39.99 is the new amended price down from $50, so you won't be receiving a refund if you paid the $39.99.

Good review. Bad game, but good review!
@Gamerdude3649 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't called it a bad game, it's just disappointing, no toddlers, no open-world, frequent loading screens, no 'Create a Style', Sims have 3 traits instead of 5, etc & etc. I mean most of the features that was in the previous games are no longer in The Sims 4. Okay I guess it's a bad game.
@aPIMPnameMOS3S9 жыл бұрын
agreed Cujo, sticking with 3.
@mirta0009 жыл бұрын
best game pack so far in the whole franchise though. 90 CAS items, 60 objects and a neighborhood for the price of a stuff pack.
@CujoHyer9 жыл бұрын
I'm allowed to have an opinion. I played the game, I bought it and played it. The Sims 3 is a better base game than The Sims 4. The Sims 4 had a few nice things in it like moods and multi-tasking. But thats it, the vast majority of everything else was bad. Thats my opinion on TS4.
@mirta0009 жыл бұрын
Cujo H you're allowed to have your own opinion, but as price to quantity goes, when the game pack is concerned, it's so far beating The Sims 2 even, let alone The Sims 3. Though this is comparing price to quantity ratio, therefore the equivalent in other games would be a stuff pack, not a full expansion.

20 bucks for opportunity to sleep in a flippin tent? No thank you.
@mirta0009 жыл бұрын
it gives you more than a stuff pack for the price of a stuff pack.
@Nertez9 жыл бұрын
mirta000 So? Stuff packs were super overpriced in the first place. It's like saying "this horse shit for 20 bucks is awesome because that dog shit earlier was 30". Not saying this DLC is complete shit, just to get my point across.
@mirta0009 жыл бұрын
Nerte 60 objects and 90 CAS items in Sims standards for 20 dollars is an incredible amount of stuff. It's even above what you would normally get with a The Sims 2 stuff pack, which is saying something. It's the same as not playing train simulator and not understanding the people that collect thousands of pounds worth of train DLC. If they got twice as much trans for half the price, it would be a joyous day for them, while anyone not involved with the franchise would see nothing special with it.
@mirta0009 жыл бұрын
Jeremy Masters and because of that modders rarely bother to mod 90 thematic items with unique interactions and wildlife. They're not paid to do it.

I couldn't agree more, really! I like the content a lot for my gaming style, it's just perfect for the direction I was taking my characters--and I can't wait to see what other Game Packs they come up with. I hope there will be a sci-fi Game Pack in the near future!

Great and entertaining review. I WAS a simmer for a long time. Bugs and continual decline of detail between both the Sims 3 and what I've seen thus far in 4 have winnowed through my passion. Maybe it'll return some day...

Those reindeer (?) mascot plushies are adorable! This reminds me a lot of the forest vacation spots from TS1, in a good way. At least there will be plenty of content to convert for those of us who still play TS2 and TS3 once the modders figure it out.

Hate only downloadable games. We dont all have great download speeds you know! And if i want reinstall on a new computer i have to download again!!!
@anakoART9 жыл бұрын
But if you think about it, downloading a game/conent takes much less time than going to shop to buy the physical copy or waiting for an ordered version to arrive. ;)
@boourns10009 жыл бұрын
Anako no it doesn't at least not for people with slow download speeds.. they could easily drive to the shops and be back before the download was even close to being finished

***** But we're talking about The Sims here. =.= boourns1000 Well you're right, but I guess that there are fewer and fewer people with this kind of slow internet nowadays. Or at least I hope so.
@amshermansen9 жыл бұрын
Antony D'Andrea Well no - You don't. You don't have to actually nuke your entire computer when you reinstall. You can save your game installations (for the most part - I'm looking at you, terrible Sims 3) boourns1000 That's just the way of the market nowadays. Push for better internet in your area or live with the consequences. It ain't pretty, but it's the future.
@jonmahashintina9 жыл бұрын
Check your Origin settings and tell it to keep installation files. After it's downloaded make a backup of the game folder wherever it was put, c:/progfiles/origin/maxis/simsoutdoor whatever. To get it onto a new computer without redownloading, paste that folder into a similar place, then tell Origin to redownload. Origin detects all the files necessary are already there in place, the download step goes from 0% to 100% in like 5 seconds, and it begins installing.

I love camping, I'm so glad EA Games! Thank you for letting my Sims camp! I have wanted it for ages since the Sims 2!
@slaine78749 жыл бұрын
I see content like this and I imagine how much better it would be had they opted to retain the open world of the Sims 3. It seems like it would just suck to send one sim off to another lot in the forest to collect herbs and whatnot and then not be able to watch your other sims be trolled by a bear, etc taking place at the main campgrounds. You loose out on so much life because of the game's regression and it's not likely something that can be fixed due to the engine limitations.

I love Sims 3: World Adventures, but then I love Graphic Adventure Games. WA adds the gameplay of a *whole new genre* into the Sims 3. It stinks the developer never offered that again. I wish Fast Lane had added Need for Speed Underground 2 Racing Game style of gameplay. Then the horses from Pets could be raced in the same way. Superstar could have added a Band Hero/Dance Dance Revolution Rhythm Game style of gameplay. Supernatural could have added a Street Fighter 2 Fighting Game style of gameplay because the supernaturals are always fighting each other. So like, Expansion Packs could add the gameplay of a whole new genre for $40US, while Game Packs could add lots of objects with brand new interactions/animations/Sims Game style of gameplay for $20US. New clothes, hair, accessories can be added to either Expansion Packs or Game Packs, so long as they perfectly match the theme of the Pack. A Medieval Time Period Pack, a Foreign Country Pack, or a UFO Pack would be a Game Pack. Doing it this way would mean that normal present day things you can see anywhere like Pets, Seasons, Apartments, Boats, Universities/Schools, and Professions/Businesses would be in the Base Game for $60US, as they wouldn't count as either Pack category.
