A few weeks later they shut down the Sheffield branch (used to be Gremlin).. Ooh, I forgot the talk was done in the pop museum in Sheffield (looks like two giant metal tea pots, look it up, I doubt it’s there any more, but man was that an ugly building) Wikipedia says it opened in march 1999, and closed in June 2000.. sounds successful.. we were there around 2001. I was 10 years old in 2001 and would have been the *perfect* age for this. By the time I was a pre-teen the millennia was rife with 'gadget toys' that were just (in hindsight) cheap plastic gimmicks but boy were they entertaining. Talking journals, TV on the go. All those robot pets. It was a gap of time before the world went fully high tech, so it feels like it was a really unique bridge period to experience growing up.

If some of the things I've read about stuff like this from the celebrities in question some of the less serious things were sometimes the things they enjoyed most, sometimes for being capable of being a bit goofy compared to some other commercial ventures. And next to that: I think any celebrity has had business requests or activities they regret, after all, they are just people and make mistakes sometimes as well. And yes, maybe the amount of money they made is also a comforting factor :P .

Son of a ...Bass! The new Metallica album came out yesterday and I've had it on repeat ever since but the song that's earworm'd into my head is that dang Infogrames song. Thanks, dude. Thanks for that. It's stuck in my head and no amount of Metallica-ing is dislodging it. lol _"Infograme is innnovaaation!" Ugh.

If it's any consolation, I very much was part of the intended demographic of this software; I actually had one of these back in the day, but my computer was so awful that it would freeze if you tried to play ANY kind of software on it, so I never actually got to play with it beyond the basic "magic 8 ball" function. I'd totally forgotten it existed until I saw you had one and it's a nice bit of closure to see what I'd missed. So thank you for making this vid!

That is interesting. I actually thought the old gameports were unidirectional. But the phone seems to be able to receive data from the PC. Maybe it's a MIDI controller?

It's got to be. Game ports are indeed unidirectional. It's not unprecedented either. The Microsoft Sidewinder used midi too for its force feedback channel.

If this was available in the mid or late 90s instead of early 00s, I would've gone crazy for this. As a kid or a teen in that era, any new technology is super exciting. I remember being excited about tamagotchi. So to have a phone where Nsync members can 'call' or 'talk' to you in the era where cellphone is primitive and not widely used, that's damn exciting.

You just freaking unlocked a childhood memory just from the thumbnail alone! I never had this, but I had friends who did. This type of niche activity software is the stuff I would hover over when I was left on my own at the department store. And on a fun, N’SYNC related note, my teen crush was Lance Bass. Imagine my perplexity years later.

I picked this up in a bargain bin in 2004. Just the disc, no hardware. Couldn’t get it to work at all. Might still have it somewhere. I honestly preferred Britney’s Dance Beat. Still better than the Christina Aguilera Follow Your Dreams software suite thing. (I refuse to call it a game. It was not a game. The Disney Print Shop thingies were more of a game than that.) Anyway, for maximum ’Nsyncer gaming it was always making the group in the Sims. Frankly, I still do make a set in every gen of the game. Lance always falls in love with JC first. With the exception of that one time in the Sims 3 where he fell in love with Justin.

This product is incredible. I've always wanted to take NSYNC with me everywhere, but I never thought I could do it while avoiding a Kidnap & False Imprisonment charge, and I haven't even got around to inventing that shrink ray to fit them in my tiny pocket. The NSYNC Hotline Fantasy Phone Game is the ultimate solution to my problems, and so stylish! Thank you for bringing this product to my attention.
