I'm not defending Assad or his actions, but what exactly makes him any worse than the other middle eastern dictators whom the west welcomes with open arms? @@VicePointGTAX-wd9iz I understand on theoretical level how the process works. But, if she wanted to return tomorrow, I don't see how that could be denied. She may very well have renounced her Syrian citizenship already. That would complicate the matters. Revoking a citizenship from natural born citizen who holds no other citizenship could be problematic. Also, revoking one's citizenship can be appealed. As long as she is a British citizen, the legal grounds for refusing her entry can easily be challenged. That said, all of the speculation of her possible return is just that, speculation.

Shamima Begum who has not done the half of it has been stripped of her nationality. In my book, she was groomed, and then kept without a passport, when she was young and naive. The difference? Money. Neither Asma nor Shamima are a security risk. I think Assad should be persona non grata, but she should be allowed to travel: the looks etc she will get will be very unpleasant and that will be punishment.
