However, until that moment, of course I had to have a very vested interest in the outcomes of those decisions that could have meant the difference between being able to continue to live here, or uproot myself and start my life again in the UK from nothing. Also, just because I no longer live in the UK does not mean I don't feel kinship for, or care for my family and friends there - my brexit uncertainty story has at least been a short one, their plight will likely take a lot longer to resolve. I work in construction. And I can tell you we have so many jobs and no men to do it. Between COVID and brexit. No one is coming to uk anymore in droves like they were and the industries are struggling because of it. Soon no one will be wanting to rent or buy these apartments I’m working on on a daily basis. Before brexit we never had shortage of men. Restaurants can’t get staff. It’s crazy that their is so much work available and no one to do it.

@@stephenreeds3632 Carpentry and joinery? It's tough. Most of the jobs are for the relatively unskilled. It's very hard too if one specializes instead of taking anything and everything. Being in America, I don't know your industry that well, but over here to make a decent living one has to be in the Union, and most of the people who get in are sons of union members, and there is constant pressure to under cut the unions and force them to shrink. I did contracting over here for 15 years before I gave it up. I loved it, but the money just wasn't worth it in the end, though if I had bid all the jobs 5% higher I could have left with something worthwhile.

There are two important themes: 1) People do not know how to research facts on internet. they are likely to look for what they believe until they find one who claims the same. It happens through all political wings and all social standards. f.e. I once saw a video claiming total nonsense. And it wasn't even well researched. While there are a ton of trustable videos claiming something else you could find a lot of comments like "OMG i didn't know", "OMG, thank you for telling me, nobody else told me" .... So basically they see literally one person claiming something and believe it immediately . 2) Again in all political wings, media and all social standards people are boxed into groups like gender, race, political wings, nationality, wealth..... defining some groups as good and the others as bad. But they are not boxed by their characters. Idiots can be rich or poor, immigrants or not, black or white, men or women, and the nicest people you can find in all of those groups too. we should start treating people by their character and not by which groups they represent.

I think you’re right, I think there’s a logical fear that there is not enough land and resources for all inhabitants, and there is not enough to go around, and this is deliberately constructed by our leaders to make it this way. Instead of people warring against one another and using this as an issue of colour for an evil propaganda sense, we need to be looking at why there are no resources and why our public combined money is not being spent on services and resources which benefit ALL people around the globe . There is enough land and resources for everyone regardless of anything, but it is not accessible. The division of colour is something that has been cooked up originally by the people in power. And it has been done this way so that people judge others on one aspect of their identity, rather than ask the basic question - why are there not enough resources to reach everybody, regardless of colour, race and creed? Race is one of the many dividing tactics our governments have employed and boy did it work. There’s simpler questions we need to be asking, namely, Where are the fruits of our collective effort really going? Our leaders have some pretty serious questions to answer.

That first Google search result thing is definitely misunderstanding how the internet works. I've recently been trying to explain to my mother how KZbin works and it's mildly terrifying to see it through her eyes. Started when she asked me about a video she saw that was obviously a ad disguised as breaking news. A little Photoshop and people not understanding how to identify ads and you can create genuinely faked news that people get drawn into and then the algorithm has them. And since a lot of people don't understand how algorithms works they don't understand how to avoid or mitigate the impact.

At the time Of the referendum, I thought Brexit was a great idea. But the proposed execution wasn't at all solid. The facts were out there in the wonderful World Wide Web before the 1st referendum and this is how I came to a decision to remain, because the risks seem too high and I wasn't seeing or hearing any discourse to quell my hazardous feelings towards leaving. In fact becoming a 3rd country and operating under WTO rules for me was the straw that broke the camels back. To me it just sounded like economic suicide. I remember thinking back then if we were planning to leave the EU to either join another trading block or form a new one with other countries I would of happily voted to leave - but that wasn't the case. We were... still are planning on jumping in a car and drive at full speed down the M1 with no brakes! Madness

Countries who adopted the Euro went bankrupt (Greece). 3. We are friendly neighbors with all EU member states and always will be. 4. There is no reason the UK and Member states cannot trade as we did previously without any tariffs, unless the EU wants that to be the case. 5. Why does having a parliament in Brussels that tells us rules we have to play by as part of this group make us better off? Being a Country and picks and chooses its own rules to play by makes the UK better off. 6. Global Investment is higher in the UK vs EU. 7. Companies are now flocking back to the UK following Brexit. 8. There are more Financial Services being taken in London as its one of the major trade hubs in Europe. Not everything the EU does is beneficial to the UK as such we should be free as an independent nation to say "actually this doesn't benefit us so we wont be taking part" if the EU allowed that and still operated like it was advertised back when this was voted on in parliament then no one would have any issues. Nigel Farage stated clearly his stance on this, that each state should be free to make its own decisions, and that's exactly how it was sold during the vote for us to join. "Like minded nations coming together for free trade with other member states". If they sold the EU back then on what it is now not a single MP would have ever voted for it. There was never any mention of a parliament in brussels, no elected officials, no presidents etc. All of that came after, and has been at the disadvantage of the UK for many years. We were a very strong nation before the EU and we will be a very strong nation after the EU. Every negative thing that happens is a result of the EU putting up blockades until they get their way. Case in point, UK Vaccines being suspended from export out of the EU, all because the EU dropped the ball and couldn't deal with the Vaccines for its member states. The UK is 4th in the global list of successfully administered vaccines, no EU state is anywhere even close to the top 10. So you tell me how the EU benefits us in that avenue, and how the EU benefits us in any other way that isn't something caused by them.

@@lynx-7190 unfortunately, due to the timing of Covid and our official departure from the EU, its going to be extremely difficult to prove which is responsible for our impending economic downturn; but as a business owner who voted to Remain, the enormous tariffs I'm now paying for goods from EU member states suggests there might be some truth in it. Not to mention the tariffs for goods from countries the EU states have trade deals with that we no longer benefit from...that are likely to take years to negotiate a replacement, and as we don't have the same bargaining power as the EU, are unlikely to ever hold a torch to them. Do you feel vindicated? I hope so.

I'm not sure why as a business owner you are paying enormous tariffs on EU goods as the UK has a tariff free, quota free, trade deal with the EU from 1/1/2021. I feel vindicated because businesses will recover from the complications of exiting the EU, but more importantly the end of freedom of movement will also end the exploitation of low paid workers, many of them EU nationals themselves. Also the UK has already secured trade deals with over 58 countries.

A second referendum should have been on the table. Now, I think it is too late. I suppose the EU citizens were shocked with the result of the referendum and for fairy tales. At least in my country we were but after a while we moved on. In a certain way, UK turned the EU stronger and United. In a global and interdependent world we are living in, why fight to be alone and the Uk had a priviledged position within the EU. It is really beyond my understanding. The irresponsible politicians should be blamed for misleading people with fake assumptions. All the best, British friends.

@@grahamsouthern5583 they might be the biggest party, but more people voted for other parties. The Brexit wave that was going to flood Europe and encourage lots of other countries to leave the EU has not materialised and the right wing groups in the EU parliament are weak. In fact, support for the EU has risen and the right wing have taken a pounding recently in national elections. Also see the current scandal in Westminster where the Tories won't reveal the report on Russian funding. I wonder why that could be?
