My family nearly lost our home due to the E. U giving Ford Motor Company a cheap 80k loan to move to cheap labour Turkey on 2013. Fords of Southampton employed thousands of workers since the early 70’s. We now have 4 low paid jobs between the 2 of us to cover outgoings since 2013. That’s what the E.U did for thousands of people made redundant in Southampton due to encouraging greed. It’s the rich like you who don’t give a toss about hard working families.
@ysgol32 жыл бұрын
@@chickedee1085 Hi, thanks for your reply. May I say i do give a toss, I really do, and I'm truly sorry about your difficulties. May I respond with this. There was nothing to stop the UK parliament introducing stronger minimum wage law to stop the cheap labour issue you describe - NOTHING. The minimum wage introduced by Labour, now the living wage under the Tories, was nothing to do with the EU, neither its existence nor its level, so it can be increased, and could have been before Brexit, at any time. Also, the EU allowed countries to have cautious immigration policies - look at Belgium for example, I know your point was about exporting jobs abroad, so I just mention that. Turkey isn't in the EU of course. So the despicable Ford decision - you mention 80k which to a company like Ford is peanuts - was a despicable business decision by them for which, may I suggest with full respect, they were to blame when you go to its root, not the EU. Please reply if you think I'm wrong - I'm always keen to learn! Best wishes.
@gm81882 жыл бұрын
😂😂😂 the ford motor story was nothing to do with a 80k EU invest 🤦 they spent millions relocationing and setting up shop in Turkey. It was purely a business decision. They went from making 22,000 vehicles in Essex a year too 185,000 in turkey. Turkey was the cheapest place they calculated they could go in Europe to do business...Europe the continent, not the EU. Turkey isn't a part of the EU, but a part of it is in Europe the continent. Sorry for your family issues, but don't blame the EU, blame the rich American business owners of ford who just want to make more money. The EU don't control where American companies set up shop

But you see, a straight answer is very often a trap. If a journalist asks you "when did you last hit your mother?", what sort of a straight answer are you going to give? You could say "I never hit my mother!" to which the journalist's response is often "so you're in denial?" A detailed answer, with groundwork preparations for context etc., is often required in order to strike the correct tone which the journalist is (quite wrongly) trying to skew. Of course, a balance has to be struck between political spin and journalistic bias - between deference on the one hand and overly adversarial questioning on the other - but the politician has to be as defensive against the truth being skewed as the journalist has to be about it being obscured.

Once in Leeds, we got a glare of pure anger from a gentlemen in his 40s. I find this curious. @paulswan89795 жыл бұрын
@Taz Devil Nothing to do with the fact that the economy was in the middle of a recession at that time. Then due to the severe cuts to services by the Tory government the economy did a bit better while a lot of the lower rungs of society suffered. Then the moment a no deal exit becomes a possible the £ dips twice in a week. First to the lowest in 2 years. Then the lowest in 32 months. This is the second quarter of the year and the economy has dipped. Yes I agree we are still in a positive thus far for the year by about 0.3% following the 0.5%in the first quarter. But to then take a drastic turn around and drop to minus growth by that amount is pretty significant. Another decline this quarter and we are back in a recession right before leaving the EU is not going to make us very attractive to potential investors. That and the possibility of refusing to pay for the commitments the UK has agreed to would effectively knock us right down. I know many factors could change that. But it is looking to be a bit of trend. Just look at everytime we have come close to leaving and look at what the value of the £ goes to. It's funny you mention that it is expected we are to do better than the others as currently looking we are still 5th on the list where we have been many years. But India and tipped to take over our spot in 2020 due to their forecasted growth and France is expected to be biting at our heals. Yet everywhere I am looking on economic reports are showing quite a bad picture from when we leave with no deal. A possible quarter off the value on the £. 30% off house values. (I know A lot of these will be brushed aside as project fear) but I have always planned for the worst and hope for the best. But sadly the worst does seem to be coming around. But time will tell.

Soon in the U.K. we'll have something similar to the what happened in Norway, where a nutcase will feel that his prejudices and hatred are vindicated by Farage's narrative and go on to harm innocent people. Verbally this is already happening. My girlfriend and I, recently just racially abused whilst waiting for a taxi, my brother during a football match. I had never had this before and now occurs with worrying frequency.

"i got the feeling it wasn't their primary language of choice" so he based it entirely on assumption... should we all make the same assumption if we hear his wife or child speak german? I mean we could but, we aren't all morons now are we?

This guy is too blindingly bigoted to see himself clearly in the mirror. Does self awareness come to mind?
