The current problem with using private capacity for NHS backlogs is that there are a huge number of NHS staff moonlighting in the private sector to boost their wages & vice-versa to soothe their ethics so it's effectively a single pool of staff (& often of buildings & equipment) so the extra capacity may turn out to be a fantasy. 😢

NHS backlogs - Even in 1948 it was acceptable practice to purchase capacity from the private sector to deal with surges, this definitely continued until Thatcher started the rot in the NHS. It's not odd. The NHS did have some surge capacity (quite a lot of surge capacity) but when that was exceeded there has never been a problem with spending money to deal with it. Because of this backlogs were rare & minimal.

Most BTL landlords have been taken in by the infinite growth lie where they can take out the gains as a loan and invest more. If you brought a £100,000 house 10 years ago you'd have been told that you can double the value of the property, but if you take out the maximum ad a loan you now have a 150k loan on a house worth 200k when you sell you have fees and costs but then you have to pay 20k in tax making your profit less. If they make this 39% you could end up paying put more than you have. They forgot that they already took out 50k as the additional loan and did not pay any tax on that

@@christopherbrown5779 you need a better accountant then. The mortgage payments are non-deductible. But the interest portion of them is. E.g. if you pay £700 mortgage, but your mortgage balance goes down £630 (10% interest rate for simplicity) then the £70 interest is an allowable expense. Never did I say the full mortgage is allowable. Unless you have an interest only mortgage, in which case it is. Also, if you are paying tax on the full £1000, you really are missing a trick. There are a lot of expenses you should be including on your tax return to lower your declared profit and as such your tax.
