Although the acting isn’t the best, the use of young people to portray soldiers was very accurate. Both world wars are famous for utilizing boys as young as 15 and turning them into soldiers.

Tips for cold weather acting! Blink more frequently and being hunched over is more accurate! Use different shot types (close, medium, far) to show more setting- maybe intro could've been medium shot showing our main guy with our other 2 soldiers around him, symmetrically, then the guard walks past, could be cool opening. Jump cut to close shot of writing, then maybe switch to a medium shot that looks similar in his flashback- that would be a really cool transition! Just some things I think would make it look better editorially. Also, take more scenic shots just showing off the landscape you're in, a great way to show walking long distances is to do a very long shot of your actors centered walking through a field (any open space) while the camera follows them. Im not an expert, dont get me wrong but i know a good amount about editing :) As for sound, make sure you can hear your dialogue, and it's not drowned out by background noise, as well as add background noise- he's on the front, give us some ever so distant artillery and occasional gunfire. editing can change everything!! Also, for actors- too much space between lines in conversation! Natural conversation almost has an overlap, don't be scared to say your line. Acting out gun recoil is a lot more snappy and horizontal- basically do NOT move your gun up unless firing full auto, as recoil kicks the stock of your weapon STRAIGHT back into your shoulder. Also, when being shot at always act to run for some sort of cover, that could be anything- think of it like you're a real soldier, and you're running from real bullets- where do you go? That high grass behind you? That tree? Anything will improve immersive-ness. When you're in a trench, do you get out of that trench with a hundred enemy guns pointed at you, and how high would you risk putting your head? Also, more screams on death lols. That being said, excellent work guys! Keep it up! I've dropped a sub to see how yall progress ;)

Hi LBRM Films, excellent short film, very deep in emotions and meaning. Please forgive the numerous "Internet experts" that just love to criticize details, uniforms, weapons, "writing", cinematographic technique, etc. This short film is not a reference for German nor Red Army uniforms and equipment, it is about relationship, humanity (or what was left of it) and the insanity of war. About the technical aspects such as cinematography or sound engineering - most pros will understand that your studio did very well considering your budget and resources. I am a Veteran of three wars and was a cinema student in college, it was not easy (producing a film, that is) - I am/was impressed by your work - keep on going, you are on the right path. Ciao, L

The Wehrmacht had splinter and tan & water camo with their smocks and winter coats (as shown in the film. The SS had oakleaf, blurred edge and peas dot camo which all look similar and was synthesized by the post war German flectarn camo). A good example of an SS camo is shown by the soldier lying on the floor at 12:18 and towards the end with the execution of an SS soldier (along with the execution of two Wehrmacht soldiers, one wearing splinter and the other tan & water camo).

You need to understand the will to survive these faces these expressions the body language It’s like they are walking in their living room with a cup of coco. Its their first day on the front, maybe....The pen....next time better. If you read the book Im Auge des Jägers, you read that the autor got a new Fillschirmjäger uniform on May 6, 1945 in still german controled area of Pirna. On May 8 the sovjet offensief towards Prag started. So, they could have had a new uniform. Also Wehrmacht soldiers had camo clothing. I do have a pair of SS Eichenlaub B wendetarn gloves. I am a Dutch guy, so, from the kingdom of the Netherlands. I live in the Battle of the Bulge area, Belgium. In my house from 1860 i found some US weapen oil (9) with original box, nazi medal SA song book, 1942 coffee can, wehrmacht artillery book, a lot of Feldpost, ww1 poster and 1905 Prussian photographs. And leather leg caps (2 pair), K98 ammo, 49 sharp rounds, 1 Garant round in my garden. And some more stuff.
