It’s great that there is no floor limits, but I hope that at some point we can build more than one structure on a lot. I hope we will have the ability to have driveways and garages too.

I am 99% sure I remember them saying you can have more than one building on the same lot, but that they wasn't ready to show it off. I know you can make walkways so I imagine driveways will be a thing as well, but on that part I don't recall them ever saying anything one way or the other.

Oh, this is looking absolutely fantastic. At first, I was quite skeptical this could challenge the Sims - but frankly, the progress I've seen over the months has made me seriously excited. The range of options is phenomenal!

this is also not as good as everyone thinks. this creates overdetaling where things can be messed up in the game and you have to search through 1000s of settings to figure out what's wrong with ur customization. it also makes things counterintuitive. I feel like they are trying 2 hard to please everyong

@@yeskaitlyn8029not really because the sims 2 & 3 had so many different things as well and everybody loved those, i feel like with LBY it will have a lot of different tools but will also be available for people ro play it however they want so if you just want to play a simple sim game you bloody well can and if you wanna go into more detail and explore the tools you can i think its good they give options.

@@Meimoonei Sims 2 didn't design itself to be moddable tho, it just had "you can change this" tools. The premades in sims 2 (which are basically well thought out tutorial families) are something people play again and again because they did such a good job making a game where you really didn't have to customize anything and it felt like a fully thought out game including a town that already had history and lore, but if you want to demolish it all and ignore that, there are tools. Right now, LBY feels like 'you can customize everything, but we'll put a few things in just case you don't want to.' It's two completely opposite ways to build a game. Sims was built to be played without modding, LBY is built to be modded. I am not saying one is better than the other (depends on the player), just that it's definitely not the same.

Are all the different textures going to be categorized for ease of use? If so, cool. Also, maybe add an elevator option for taller buildings, would really cut down the travel time. Maybe escalators also so I can live my dream of building an 80's style mall 😅

The construction mode is looking great! I am very excited to play! 😁😄 have some questions: 1. I love the idea of not having a floor limit. I would like to know if there is a possibility to build a basement as well. 2. I always dreamed of building an underground city. I see that there is some flexibility in building outside the lot boundaries. It would be a dream come true if it were possible to connect lots via basement so that my underground city could become a reality. 3. Will we have curved walls? And curved roofs? 4. Speaking of roofs, how do they behave with the freedom to build walls at any angle? 5. Will you create something to modify the floor height? Have, for example, platforms and/or unevenness on the floor. 6. Finally, do you plan to create terrain tools? I would love to have the opportunity to make ramps.

Love Rod getting called out a bit because he plays zoomed out- ppl wanted to see cooking animations and eating and drinking animations up close I figured animations and art stuff really should be tweaked more later - function over form- the game has to function better then the animations then the pretty stuff

The plant hedges (which you can see next to the fence hedges) merge together, but the fence hedges don't currently. Great request, noting this! ✍️

We are extra excited about being able to resize curtains! And the roofing tools are looking good so far. As a person who loves doing historic builds, I would like to know if there will be roofing options specific to towers, or if one will be able to use the tools to construct circular roofs? Build mode looks like it has some pretty amazing features. I especially like how you can change the style of roof by dragging, the customizable size of windows and curtains, the customizable fences, and the customizable trims. If you see, customizable is a very big deal! But, I'm also really glad to see the floors are not limited. We could build tall buildings and have a more city type area of the town. The question I have is if lots can have more than one function. For example: First floor is the bank, second floor is a shop, third floor is an office, fourth floor is a gym, and fifth floor is a cafe? Or is each lot only able to be one thing at a time, such as this can only be a shop or it can only be a bank?

I did see something on an old video where there was a 'live/work' lot assignment. But as far as having two businesses on the same lot, or functional apartments, it doesn't look like we'll be getting that, at least not from anything I've seen

Hello Rocio! I had a few build questions for you after today's video! Firstly, are basements a planned feature? How about daylight basements and split levels? I grew up in a home made in the '70s and would love to recreate it if possible! Second, how about platforms and half walls? Third, will staircases be modular (i.e. the ability to create an L shaped staircase or a staircase with a landing)? Fourth, in regards to roofing, will we be able to drag the eaves out to make a flying gabled roof, or will the entire eave be flat? Fifth and final question, will we be able to make proper garages and carports with driveways, or will our cars just spawn on the road when we're ready to drive somewhere? I'm very excited for early access coming up in March next year, so far this game is shaping up to be everything I want out of a life sim!

When I play Sims, 99% of what I do is build, and TS4 has some really great build features these days, but I still find myself wanting more haha.

I don't follow everything about this game so might be obvious to somebody who knows more; but are there such things as private doors, or locked doors, or rooms only certain people can enter? With the open world it *looks* to me like everyone just walks everywhere which always is a bit odd with businesses, neighbor's homes, etcpp.

- the roofing tool looks great, I especially love that you can change the angle of the top of it. One thing I'd like to see is being able to put a different wall texture on each side of the roof. I'd actually like to see this for walls and floors as well. Sometimes I like to add individual tiles of wall/floor patterns when building homes. - resizeable curtains is amazing, but the blinds looked kind of weird how they stretched. It would look better if more blinds were added/removed as it's horizontally adjusted - The detail of having air conditioners is so nice. I love that if I have a poorer family I could choose to go without it or maybe use fans instead to save money. I'm hoping to see more details like this in the game! - I am so excited that there is no floor limit

Can you build on slopes, build retaining walls, terraced gardens, split-level houses, walkout basements, also I am curious about roads, it would be nice to see some variation in roads like changing the texture to cobblestone or dirt roads and the ability to customise them further, like making a wider road for the main street, adding angled parking, mediums, wide sidewalks, planters, treelined, adding or removing lines etc.

I’d love to build a skyscraper office, but worry the only way characters can get up to higher floors would be by walking up stairs! Very excited to see the air conditioning options, and I absolutely love that it isn't just completely aesthetic, but has some functionality. However, I would really like if there were other forms of utility fixtures (Hot water heaters, water softening/purifying units pipes, furnaces, air filters, circuit breaker boxes, etc) and a requirement for them, to give homes and buildings a more realistic touch. As well as to encourage practical floor plans. This is something I really feel is missing from so many builds, from other games, that would otherwise be awesome, except that I know they wouldn't actually be functional.

It would be really cool if there was a way to turn off inner visibility of some floors for people to create apartment buildings. That way, if i made a 20 story building but only had 3 floors inhabited, instead of having to click through all empty floors, it would just ignore the floors i don't wanna see and snap right to the ones I'm looking for. Either that or a point & click to view floor option that could spare me from clicking through empty floors

Hey team, first of all thanks so much for such level of compromise and transparency with the community 🎉 Regarding animations: I was wondering how easy would it be for a modder/animator to replace game animations, for example, lets say i want to change the way my human washes its hands. Would that be feasible and if so, available at early access? Secondly, would it be possible to change the world itself? Meaning terraforming, change street layout, water sources etc? And last but no least, can the human interact with water bodies? Meaning, can they go for a swim in the beach or other water masses? Are pools planned for the game? Couldn't help but notice that the roof only rotates in 4 directions, so "diagonal" roofed houses are impossible? Or is the roof centered on the "room"? So maybe you could rotate the entire structure? It would be neat to use those "free angled" walls to create very modern looking houses or parts of houses! Also; I am once again curious about animations and animation modding. Specifically if you will have an in-game tool to create animations since you have the procedural animation aspect to play with. This is high on my list of wants! I'll probably keep asking until I hear something back, so don't be annoyed at me!

Is it possible to create your own town from scratch, rather than using the pre-made town?

I would LOVE roof curving, for pagoda styles, or whimsical builds or in my case the perfect angle. Fencing extending to the sidewalks from the edge of a lot, and the ability to make Terraced builds aka Close lot placement for UK/USA Downtown/Main street builds. Thank you! xoxo

At this point you guys have covered just about everything. I am loving the building aspect I have no complaints about it, since all I think it needs is polish. The characters mostly the same, mostly I think they just need polish, but I think they need more than the building. I do have a question though, which was something in the last video that made me wonder. If more than one town can be created, can you create more than one in a single "world" and would it be possible for your character to go visit them. Like say i have the base starting place in the game and someone makes a nice ski resort style world and I don;t want to live there but maybe install it and then have my character go visit. Will things like that be possible?

You'll just have to preset it make one and save it to your library and reuse it. That's what I did in Sims 2

@@slimedragon438 you'll have to turn the move objects on and tile your driveway pieces on the lot. Make it look nice and save it to the library. Same for sims 3, only Sims 3 has cooler parking spots. If there is no official pulling in and out of a parking spot in lby then you'll just have to do the same.

I think parking lots can be built easy with costume cars. Sims 2 had parking lots but they were cosmetic, the sim you drove to a place always parked on the street. The question is only will we have parking placers so it’s not just cosmetic and the Yuman people who work or patronize a place actually park there cars there.

This is amazing. Love that we "finally" will have a game in which we can fence in the whole lot. Love the flexibility of the walls and that we can actually have curtains that fit windows now 😂 Since the walls will be so flexible, the team needs to add some visual guides to help us understand their length and angle as we place them. Otherwise it will be very difficult get the walls exactly the way we want them. We want diagonal walls, sure, but we also need the ability to place them precisely, aligned and not all over the place.

I love the improvement work of these weeks. I appreciate the changes of the Early Access. First impressions are all. ❤ Doing a comparative between this building videos that we saw, you can easily see the improvement in textures and objects. ❤❤❤ also, It’s easy to notice a nice work when night comes out. Wow, if you compare the game now to what it looked like in March, it is truly coming along so well. I liked it back then but this is a significant improvement. The textures, lighting, and the whole atmosphere is absolutely gorgeous! I cannot WAIT for Early Access to start!!!!!! I have to admit, I am falling in love with this game!! I haven't been this excited for a game in a long time!

I can't wait for this game! I stopped playing "the name that shall not be spoken" about a year a go because of all the greedy support and mod breakage it brought, so I've been needing a life simulator game that's worth my and money fandom!

That game is so dead no matter what "new" content it always feels exactly the same the characters just have no personality and it's not like the game a sandbox so there's nothing to do. 💤

It would be nice to think that things will change, but look at who we're talking about! They'll never change! Not unless players push back, hard. And by the same token those players will never change. So here we are, a good thing ruined... and for what? So, I recede into this I don't give a f state of mind because I'm sick of it. All these cruddy game's devs and pubs can get this smoke! 😂

Hi Rocio and co! (Petition to have Paradox rename themselves to that ;P) I was so excited to see another tiny preview of live mode at the end of the video! So, I guess my question is, and this is sparked by Rod's most recent video - do the people in the world have schedules/an inner clock that influences their impulses through their day, e.g. are they more likely to go to a nightclub at night and less likely to go during the day, are they more likely to go to the beach during the day but less so at night, etc? Hope that makes sense!

I know this is probably not directly tied to building, but maybe partly if it involves building or lot mechanics. But is there some sort of rental or tenants system in place or planned down the line, so you could rent out rooms or run your own apartment building complex etc.? Assuming if there is hotels in the game, the ground work to have apartment complexes are there too?

Great video, I love how the trims work and can be customised. I'd like to know if lots can be placed directly next to each other, without a gap, so they share a single fence, wall, hedge or whatever? For example, terraced houses which share a wall.

Questions about roofing that was not covered. Do or can we modify the shape of the roof? Examples barn style, domehat or j shapped. Currently we have an adjustment for additional points we can drag around to change the roof style. Will we have this or something to select the type. Some of us like to builld a converted barn or cottage that has a differnt roof style. Love the trim piece on top. Also are we going to have roof decour like cooplas or just a placeable dormer without having to build a room to get it. Also on wall trim do we have a way to change the lenght so it does not cover the complete wall length. Can we eventually get some ornamental wall moldings? Like the double rectangular boxes that go in fancy dining and living rooms.

I am super excited that you can build taller buildings. That combined with the fact that you can move the lots and build on the edge already makes me picture row houses. I am really interested if you can make an apartment building though. Having an office building be tall is nice, but it would be really cool if you could divide a house for multiple households. I am also really interested in what kind of optimization mechanics work in the background. Of course I am not expecting to be able to build a metropolis, but would definitely like if my town centre could be a bit denser. Does the game keep everything loaded all the time? Or does it save resources somehow? If so, how?

Thanks for sharing, Rocio and the LBY team! Really appreciate you showing off the fence tool. I was wondering if we'll be able to build walls on the very edge of the lot, in order to build row houses. That's been a feature missing from major simulation games - it's a real barrier to creating realistic cities (rather than suburbs). I'm also curious about placement of floor tiles up to the edge of a lot as well. Thank you!

I don't remember if this was said, but what I liked in the sims 3 was the ability to own multiple properties, but the problem was that the sims couldn't live in those properties at the same time. I remember when my teenager sim was staying at our other property since it was closer to the school and she got into trouble with the police for staying out past curfew which left me confused since I owned the house. Is it possible to own multiple houses in LBY and if so, can we rent the properties to other yooman's and can we live on these properties at the same time?
