Well they look okay, but all the females have overly narrow shoulders, while the men all look pretty normal! I mean all the women have pear shaped bodies, which makes them look like either an alien or a character from Pixar! I mean some if you look at them looks like their shoulders are nearly as wide as their heads, like all the women upper torso are really narrow, while their hips are either normal width or themselves too wide, at least for the size of their shoulders and upper torso! So no I don't think they are looking very good, not as far as their randomized females go! I mean that's what's bothering me about them, whenever they randomize them ALL the women have those abnormally narrow shoulders, which means our whole game will be filled with a bunch of pear shaped women, randomized by the game! And of course all their premade females will be the same as well! All the men have normal proportions, but not any of the women that I have seen, which since I have watched every video, that is all of them! And that's scary to me, I mean we already have to deal with clowish looking characters in The Sims 4, popping up randomly, I don't want another so called life sim that makes people look their deformed! And this one seems to only be doing it to the females, like they think all women have these dainty little shoulders and upper body period, even with wide hips! It make me wonder if they don't have limits to how wide their shoulders are, compared to the men! I know The Sims 4 limits how wide the upper body of the females can be, compared to the males, I have to use a mod so I can actually make my females have wider upper bodies, like across the chest area, also one to make the chest cavity thicker from the side view, not just making the breast come out more or get bigger, like normally! I am worried Life By You is also focused more on things like a women's breast size, and less on her bone size, like her actual natural body frame, not just by their weight or their breast size! I'm afraid they will make all the females look like blow up dolls, for the males! I don't want another game where I have to turn around and give all the characters, at least the premades, total makeovers, and since you can't do anything to the randomized characters, I am still stuck with these pear shaped people! I don't expect everyone to look perfect, but I don't expect to not see one gender done perfectly normal, while the other is always made like a blow up doll, instead of a real human!

Since unrequited love is confirmed I wonder if we can also have mutual secret crushes, when two character are in love with each other but, being unaware of the other's feelings, they are too timid to confess and have romcom type of awkward relationship?

The customization options for relationships are fantastic, including the one-sided relationship, the dislike bar with chemistry and romance, and more. I love it. What's even cooler is that we can make many changes just by clicking on them if we want to, without needing to enter any cheat codes or anything.

Love how you can adjust relationships levels. My question is what about pregnancy? I hope to see realistic pregnancy as well as marriage. Would also like to see group conversations and realistic expressions depending on their mood. For example between a couple during romance they express the emotions of being romantic.

Also i don't expect it, but I've always imagined that in a game like this say if you have a character who's less than attractive, but for story purpose you don't want to change their natural looks by going back into character creation, you instead get plastic surgery for them and when they have kids their original looks plays into their genetics while the parent keeps their altered/edited face. It's like you bring them to a clinic, but in "surgery" you automatically get placed back in character creator but through the cosmetic surgery option the game keeps a hidden record of that character's natural or birth looks.

Yeah not only for the Relationship progress but for every components as you can cheat everything with just one click like the needs. A "no cheat UI" option would be good.

Yup, you can absolutely turn off cheating in the Settings so you don't accidentally misclick!

The relationship slider being directly adjustable feels so easy to adjust, no commands needed, maybe even a bit too easy 😅 I hope I won't accidentally move it by accident; it may be a good idea to have a lock/unlock button somewhere.

I would add mini character pictures in the existing humans list at 2:13. Also can it be custom sorted? Here it shows sorted by first name but I think a sort by last name would be useful when keeping track of family members. And on the subject of relationships, will there be a family tree feature? Lastly, how will genetics work when having children?

Oh they do indeed. There some other videos that demonstrate this happening live in the video. Your controlled character is able to witness things that other NCC's (Non-Controlled Character) too. So you might discover someone on a suspicious romantic dinner with a guest they do not usually share their bed with. I believe there will be a lot of chaos in this game if these systems are done justice.

If/when university is enabled in game, can you please allow in character creator the ability to not only set job, but also whether or not person has a particular degree? Also, please have job level correspond with degree. Definitely a big quality of life thing in my opinion for character builder !

Looks great! how will relationships evolve naturally with gameplay? Can extremes like they showed us with "in love"+"enemy" happen naturally? Don't want to have to control everything myself though to have the option is excellent. Also did they state whether humans can gain or loose weight in gameplay?

I will be honest, this the first time since The Sims 3 that i'm excited about life simulation game. Every update makes me more and more excited, because of the details and gameplay. Definetly will buy it ❤❤❤❤

Wow Rocio, you guys are making some great progress on the overall look of the characters and game. Absolutely fantastic job! My question is in regards to water and the way our characters can interact with it. Is it possible to seamlessly transition from walking on the beach, to wading through shallow water, to swimming deep water in direct control mode and will we be able to directly control our character swimming in the water?

I like the improvements on the humans. Since it's still in development, I hope the UX/UI would be streamlined or tweaked so it doesn't overwhelm beginners. Maybe a toggle between "basic" and "advanced" (and possibly custom) mode when creating a new save file could help? Also, does the human creation screen have different lighting options? It would be helpful if players want to recreate real life people with different lighting conditions. It would also be great if we have different background options and pose options + screenshot feature after we're done with the creation.

It's looking really good! The visual improvements, particularly to the humans, are exciting! I also really like the tags for the character creator. Things like "city upbringing", "shameless", "noble lineage" are all really intriguing. Something like "only child" for example, would also be very funny if it came with certain quirks with the way they interact or need attention lol.

Keep up the good work, talking about possible future systems: I personally(and other players) would enjoy a muscle/weight system. Let’s take as an example The Sims 4 one, analysing it you can see that it’s not balanced and realistic for three reasons: The first one is that every type of food in the game has a caloric value(not a bad thing), but Sims lack a human metabolism, so these calories will result only in weight gain. So your characters get fatter no matter what they eat(less if they eat a salad and more if they eat a cake for example). The second reason is that you can only loose weight by using the treadmill and doing exercices is nearly useless, the only way to increase your muscle mass is by using the weight machine(it won’t lower your weight). And there’s the third reason: let me do a little experiment, let’s see what happens to our Sim if we make him/her use the treadmill for 8 hours straight. This will result in a 30-40% loss of his/her total weight in just that time and you will see his/her body change completely in less than one day(the opposite will happen if I make my sim eat high calories foods for the same amount of time)[weight changes too fast]. At the end you can’t keep track of your character’s weight and it’s difficult to keep it stable. I would like to have a balanced calories system, dieting foods should be added(some traits related to foods could be interesting). Let me know what you guys think.

I've missed one-sided relationships, they're a big part of why I went back to sims 2 after a decade or so of playing sims 3 ($im$ 4 was never going to be an option) so I'm very glad to see them in LBY. I can see that I'm going to need a bigger computer than the laptop I'm currently running sims 2 & 3 on. Glad to see the graphics improving, and to see the level of transparency we've come to expect as a result of Paralives development. I'm honestly looking forward to both games.

Thank you so much for this video, I really can't wait for the game ! I have a few questions : - Is there a reset button ? Say I'm not happy with my character's body, I tweak it for a good 30m and then remember I had made them a specific way for storytelling purposes and want to keep what I had before I started tweaking. Is there a one-click "reset" button ? Or a "go back" button to harass until I'm back to where I started ? Same for the relationship bars. What if I was not paying attention to which character was selected, I changed something and don't remember what it was before ? - I'm not sure if we've had info about genetics in the game yet, but I'd love to know if the changes we make to the body will also changes genetic values ? Wait so is chemistry randomized when you meet new people? Can crushes develop randomly as well? Like your character sees someone that they have high chemistry with and maybe develop a crush or something on them? Or does that have to be specifically defined by the player?

I’m already in love with this game. I said this elsewhere but as someone who has been a devout fan of the sims series I am ready to turn my back on it after so many years of disappointment. It feels like leaving a toxic relationship where you’ve been begging for the bare minimum, and you finally meet someone new who gives you everything you wanted and more without even asking. Will we be able to add nickname, middle names, and reverse the order of last name and first as well? I think it would be cool if family or close friends could refer to our characters by a nickname but say coworkers or strangers would know them by their first name. And in order for others to unlock that nickname they'd have to increase their relationship.

Loved the video! How does a roommate situation work? Do both roommates own the house or is there a landlord (house owner) and tenant? Or are both possible? If there are landlords, can they choose their preferred characteristics when searching for a tenant? For example, search for employed, likes cleaning and is charming.

What does chemistry do and how is it determined in-game? Is it fixed or does it increase/decrease with certain interactions?

Been wondering about this too! I thought it would be based on likes and dislikes, turn ons and offs, or personnality compatibility maybe (but then again based on what ? zodiac signs, similarity, what about "opposites attract" ?). But we can adjust it so easily, then maybe not ? Is it randomly generated at the creation of a character ? Can it be increased / decreased through gameplay ? So many questions, I really can't wait to play the game to find out !!!

Fantastic question Vix! Chemistry determines how they feel overall toward each other so, for examples, if you have good chemistry, the likelihood that you'll get a favorable response is higher. It can also be used as a way to lock conversations or dialogue options, so you only get those options if your characters have high chemistry with each other.

That looks so amazing 😊 What would really make it perfect in my opinion is adding some kind of way to determine who your character finds attractive. I know there are likes and dislikes, but while I don't care how my friends look, I may have some preferences when it comes to dating (Not only lookwise, but also in terms of traits). You can even like or be okay with certain behaviours (like clumsiness) in friends, but dislike it when your partner has this trait, since it affects you way more. Maybe likes and dislikes could be tagged as general / romantic?

This all looks great, and I love how open and responsive you guys are! I noticed that the humans only have two names, and I was wondering as someone with three what possibility there could be for middle names and nicknames? And could a character change their name at town hall, first or last, in game as part of the story? Like maybe if they were transitioning and wanted a new name, or maybe they got divorced and wanted to change their last name? Just curious because I would really love to see that kind of customization available in this awesome game! Thanks for all of your hard work~ :)

I don't know if I get how that works but you should probably should put those cheat setting behind a dedicated mode or something. Just having them accessible in the menus is not something I've seen in any other game that wasn't in creative mode or a cheat mode before.

I think I'm developing some unhealthy feelings for Jonathan McGowan! 😂 And following that question - in one of the interviews Rod said that as a European company Paradox is not afraid of nudity. What does this mean for Life by You? Does it mean that there will be Barbie-like nudity or does it mean full, realistic nudity? Where is the line and what can we expect?

Just have to say that I love how the UI looks like in life mode. It's really clean and focused and well-proportioned, and simply a pleasure to look out. Also have to add that it's a fantastic idea to have the needs of a character so central on the screen, that will make management a whole lot easier. Everything looks great so far!

Though I still selfishly lament the delay as it means I'm yet to get my hands on this potential masterpiece, it is still uplifting to see such an open dialogue when addressing the subject of game development and that ought to be applauded. I wanted to offer some feedback on the latter part of this video, pertaining to the body sliders. I wondered if it would at all be possible to apply a toggle feature: - "Apply Golden Ratio". This would be on by default, and should ensure that if someone seeks to increase the width of their human's shoulders, it would also compensate the other significant parts of the body (upper and lower arm, hands and fingers, upper and lower legs, feet, torso and abdomen, waist/hips? - you get the idea). When toggled off it would allow for the free manipulation of limbs, as demonstrated, without further compensation. Finally, if free manipulation has been used, and the "Apply Golden Ratio" toggle is clicked, as if to apply the setting, first an alert message should read "Applying the Golden Ratio will revert any changes made, do you wish to continue?", before reverting the human to the GR standard. This would prevent an accidental revert. On the brief subject of confirmations, though I think having confirmations for every time you make a manual change to a romance, friendship or chemistry level may be a tad intrusive from a user perspective, I hope you would consider applying a simple "lock" to each slider, that when toggled prevents manual changes and permits only those driven by interactable/events etc. Again, the ability to toggle really only permits more freedom of play. *Genuflects* Thank you for continuing to do things mindfully. I've actually had a couple questions too! One of them is are we gonna be able to finance cars or do we have to buy them outright? Then my second question is how adjustable is the camera going to be? Like is it going to be comparable to The Sims 3 camera or Sims 4 default camera? Or could we get a video explaining how the camera works, like how zoomed in we can go or if we can go eye level with our humans. Thank you so much! I'm so excited for early access on March 5th! Really wish it was earlier so we could play earlier, I'm so excited.

They have definitely confirmed that that will be possible, though I don't think we know yet how exactly they're going to go about it. So that'll be interesting to find out more about as time goes on :)
