Now as a previous 200 owner it was a blessing to see the 300 arrive. New more modern and full of the technology a 200 owner dreams off. I’ve bought one and couldn’t be happier. As for comments about future reliability well let’s face it the 200 was nothing to crow about. Dusting and faulty injectors as well as turbos letting go is not what I would call reliability!!! As for V8 rumble for f$&k sake let it go!!!!

I like the tailgate - instant shade and shelter when the weather is not kind and its easier to reach stuff in the back. Didn't like the split tailgate on my 200 because if you put stuff on it, you couldn't pull out the drawers or fridge. Got a Troopy now with barn doors - a nice step back in time.

Here's another 'hate' for the GXL model: No auto-sensing rain windcreen wipers! How hard it is to add that in? You get that on a Corolla that costs 1/4 the price...

Thanks for testing in-site. Towing the 2500kg caravan, full vehicle tank, 250kg of ball load and 4 passengers that’s about its limit on specs. Add bullbar and your over. Great to see a land cruiser which is same capacity as all the Hilux/Ranger/Prado/Everest.

Heh BM happens with most large 4WD 650 to 700 capacity between Kerb Weight and Gross Vehicle Mass As for your comparison of power and torque the 300 is nearly 50% greater LC300 227@4000 / 700@1600-2600 Hilux/Prado 150@3000-3400 / 500@1600-2800

About your hates, agree that Toyota down sizing fuel capacity is an issue (120 prado to 150 prado lost 30L, even single cab 70 series 130L down from 180L) so I’d be putting a wheel carrier on & a brown Davis 150L tank in to give 260L on a 300. Also people bang on about the split tailgates but all the my neighbours (outback stations) wives don’t like that they can’t reach right in to grab shopping etc out when tailgate is down. Toyota actually surveyed existing 200 series users from what I understand & the consensus was to lose the split tailgate. Lights permanently on should be mandatory for all new cars, the amount of dicks I see in dark or grey cars with no lights on in poor visibility…

nearly 16 mpg towing 5500 lbs is freaking amazing. In the US we wouldn't get the diesel or the sub tank. I would guess 12 mpg and 21 gallons for fuel, we wouldn't even get 300 miles with that. Of course I would love to hit 16 mpg unloaded in my 1fz 80 series so maybe I'm just jealous. Also, the loss of the splitgate is unforgivable.

Remember most of the Design changes including the rear door were requested by Landcruiser owners in the Middle East where Toyota sells three times as many Landcruiser models than are sold in Australia or the USA combined

Great vid, I drove one the other day, it's funny you liked the gearbox, I maybe had it not in the right setting but I found it hunting got gears. I know Toyota make unbelievable cars for reliability, and I am sure the LC 300 will be a good car, but one thing is for certain its not for me and I am keeping my 200 series for a bit longer for sure 👍

I think you wouldnt lose much for using 200 for a bit. Everything in lc300 is little bit better than 200 and getting modified will be much more expensive in first 2 years till companies make enough parts avalaible. They almost gets the same mpg too

Drove a 300 on the weekend and found it hunting for the right gear more than a handful of times. Was no where near as smooth as a 10 speed should be. Test vehicle had 2400ks. Oh, and there is less space in the front and back seats than the 200. So less fuel, and less space.

Also don't you think it's a bit over-priced? Other channel compares it to Patrol Ti-L and it's about 40k difference between two, particularly the patrol is V8 5.6L similar to the LX 570 engine.

What about transmission temps, intercooler temps ??
@danielb89012 жыл бұрын
I am surprised that you have not mentioned roof rack carrying capacity as this is ultra important. 300 has an aluminum roof and I believe the capacity is only 100kg half of the 200 series. No good for me as I carry a dingy on my 200 GX roof. The 300 GX has 17 inch rims.
@SignatureCamperTrailers2 жыл бұрын
That’s all a little bit dependent on the roof racks you get installed - the basic Toyota roof racks have the load limit you mention, but that is similar to the 200 series. You’ll often find aftermarket racks will be able to rate them higher and cater for boat loaders etc.

One thing I hate of the LC300 is the speedometer is useless. The grid is too fine to read whilst driving. I wonder why it has got scaled to 260Km/h when the car can't go faster than 180km/h realistically.

How is it a 2.5t trailer seating on a single axle? Law is anything over 2t need to be on twin axles? 1.5t is the limit for singles. This is misleading. You don't have enough rating on 2 tyres to carry 2.5t on single axles.
@SignatureCamperTrailers2 жыл бұрын
Hi Mac, our 15ft Hybrid is nationally recognised and certified with a 2850kg ATM. The axles are actually rated at 3000kg as a single axle configuration.
