I honestly believe that this is up there with any of Joy Division's more revered classics. This song has an ability to make me be absolutely euphoric and welling up at the same time. Such a tangible sense of 'it's bad now, but we can do it'. People used to write them off as merely throwaway hipster kings, how stupid those people must feel now reflecting back. A perfect song by a perfect band, thank you Mr. Murphy.

This is the best live version that I've found. Fantastic attack, brilliant vocal. It also has a stronger guitar than the studio version. Best song of the 00's.

There are two things I think when this song ends - 1 : "That was awesome". 2 : "Whoa, someone must have sore fingers"

I completely agree! I only sort of liked them until I saw their live performances and then went to one of their shows and now I'm a definite fan. Their songs are so much more intense live.

SO awesome. So much time spent trudging on pop music gravel and all of a sudden, you find a diamond. It's unmistakable, chilling! This is the real deal! I love how they look so disparate, like a randomly assembled lab group that just happens to complement each other perfectly, with astounding results.

This might be the James Murphy's best vocal performance of this song. More than makes up for the shortened length.

There is so win in this. The fact that that its just first to the fourth the whole way says so much about modern music in itself.... and it builds the mononity then the lyrics ... he has so much to tell u and he is only getting half out and he is sad about it... ;-)

And with a face like a dad and a laughable stand You can sleep on the plane or review what you said When you're drunk and the kids leave impossible tasks You think over and over, "hey, I'm finally dead." Oh, if the trip and the plan come apart in your hand Tou look contorted on yourself your ridiculous prop You forgot what you meant when you read what you said And you always knew you were tired, but then Where are your friends tonight
