This job is so much harder and complex than people give credit for... I went into this job knowing the negative stigmas that were placed on a correctional deputy from many years ago. The truth is a lot has changed. Now a days the CD's get the same training for the most part as patrol does. And the job is just as important and hard in different ways. Thanks to all those putting it all on the line here in our home country!

The academy's are different at least here in Cali. If you ever want to work for the LAPD, etc, you have to go through a full academy again because the academy to become a correctional officer just doesn't have all of the requirements that it does for patrol.

My thoughts: in the mean streets; it's patrol cars, SWAT, & hostage rescue teams/ medics. In jail or prison-- the C.O. is 1-on- 1 with the same hostile, belligerent, mentally ill; and violent person. GOD help the jail staff. Twelve hour shifts with the worst of the worst and violent mentally ill inmates

The pod they show in this video is the “trustee” pod only. It’s WAY nicer and newer than the rest of the jail. Place is an absolute shit hole and 23 hour lock down for everyone unless you’re a trustee.

I protect my community from these inmates??. Wow. They are human girl. Everyone can be a criminal. You never know in this life, including your girls in the future. They are not things.
