when i went to see them this year the program said they had 300 people marching

There are some Texas bands that take advantage of the fact that the UIL state band contest only happens every two years. That allows them to not do UIL every other year and practice more to try and be a finalist at BOA grand nationals.

U.I.L rules state that if a band decides not to participate in U.I.L one year, they may not compete for two years. I didn't know how to phrase it, so here is an example. If a 3A or 5A band decides not to participate in U.I.L for fall 2009 they will not be eligible to compete until fall 2011 which means their next state year would be 2012.

It's only 8 hours a week if they're competing in UIL. I imagine that LDBell doesn't do UIL so that they can practice more.

@Oscar0009991122 What contest was that at? I thought Bell had only lost to Marcus this year. Either way, you got 9th last time at GN (which is an honor and you guys must be great), however, Bell got 1st and scored about 7 points higher than you. Bell also has been in the top 2 or 3 at GN for the last 4 years. You might be good, but I have a feeling that LD Bell is a cut above you. Plus, trying to brag up your band like that makes you, and your program look bad.
