Absolute marvel.. These analog equipments are really tough.. They were build to last 30 40 50 years without servicing.. Incredible!

Absolutely not. These things as well as everything else touching an airplane are required by federal aviation regulations law to be overhauled by certain intervals, measured in calendar time or hours. At the absolute minimum everything is completely torn down and inspected, and some parts have cycle life, so I would expect things like the ball bearings being replaced regularly. I can guarantee this thing has been overhauled at least a dozen times, and like with all avionics, up until it's no longer cost effective or obsolete. In fact at :27 that plaque in the back has dates on it depicting when it's been serviced, though can't really see because of the glare.

However, they don't even compare to modern MEMS devices (at least for linear/angular differences in velocity).

I love this!!!!!!! As i see from the schematic it has a one-phase gyro motor. What type of 400Hz inverter do you have to run the instrument?

Hi, I use a function generator and a bipolar power amplifier BOSS 36-12 which can deliver 26Vac whith 8Arms. In addition I use a transformer when I need 115VAC.

I use spare pins from Souriau connectors I use for nuclear power plant projects. They fit perfectly. Concerning the power supply I use a function generator and a power bipolar amplifier from BOS/S. This permits to have 26Vac 400Hz with 200Wrms power. I use a transformer when I need 115Vac.

Why do you have to complete the circuit externally in the connector wiring? Specifically, the erector circuit. What is the design reason for this?

Super demo.
