We had a lot of fun with these cars! We also spent some tuning the suspensions and it definitely makes a difference, so it was interesting to try different setups and find that sweet spot.

You'll have some fun with them. For what they are, they're pretty good little cars. I would suggest taking the inner fenders out so the front wheels don't rub them. Roadside RC actually showed exactly how to do it. It's only about a 15 second process.

They seem to have a little more grip than the bigger drift rc cars, but if rc Touge racing was a thing, these cars would be the perfect balance of grip and drift

They do actually have a little more grip than a typical drift cat, but they do still sort of naturally try to drift though you can drive them straight if you want.

@@Rek_Rc yes they do. I have seen multiple poeple trying out custom gyros instead of the standard one on it and that helps ALLOT.

Same with the 1/76 rwd turbo racing “drift” cars, they are actually perfect for simulating low grip rwd touge racing, despite being marketed as drift cars.

Thanks for the video mate 🤙 I got the new AE86 which has the same electronics as these. It's worth playing with rear toe and making sure your car is all set up symmetrical as mine wasn't out of the box. Only catch is to adjust camber you have to pop the ball joints off and I don't think it would handle that too many times. 25% gyro is the smoothest but still a bit wavy. I have ordered a cheap gyro with manual gain to see if it can be improved. Good for the money though!

I heard changing the servo and lowering the gyro changes the entire car for the better.

@@Rek_Rc do you mean reducing gain or placing the gyro lower in the chassis? Roadside RC has a video where he has put a futaba gyro in it and the result is awesome

@@bensonCP I just meant reducing the gain. But yes, roadside and a few others made these cars really legitimately good drifters with just minor changes and upgrades. Amazing the potential of these little things for the price isn't it? I still have both of mine and enjoy them daily. I'm considering a follow-up video about upgrading them as well after seeing the results others have gotten

I got the white one and it is driftable, a little twitchy on the gyro but it still works well. I also adjusted the camber settings. (I use 50 percent gyro)

They exceeded my expectations. They are very adjustable for a car of their size and price, and making those adjustments to get a desired result is somewhat needed, but worth it.

great video, I have the Mazda one, They can turn off the gyro and put a better one for better drifting behavior. Super cheap and value for money.

The gyro is overactive I'd say. It does its job, but I agree that a slightly better gyro would be nice. I wouldn't even mind paying an extra 10 dollars or so for a better gyro because the car is overall very good, especially for so cheap.

Just got one and I love it. One issue tho the alignment is jacked! Passenger rear tire is hardly touching the ground but on the outside edge of the tire. I get how to make adjustments but I'm a bit nervous to break something. Do you have a video on how to make adjustments?

We just took pliers and bent the metal suspension bar just slightly and matched them up. It worked perfectly and behaved more like actual suspension after that. As far as the camber and toe adjustments, don't be afraid, just don't be heavy handed is all. Roadside RC did a segment on adjustments. Tell him I sent ya!

I want the rx7. My buddy had a real white 87 turbo rx7. That car was fun as hell.. 11000 rpm shifts

@@Rek_Rc yes they are, he blew the clutch out at the drag strip, we put another in and he sold it to another buddy, and within 6 months the seals went bad. They sure are fun though.. merry Christmas

They look like competition for the Kyosho mini-Z I was just watching Kev's review of the mini-z vs some cheaper cars, and he waffles on about how much better the mini-z handling is, before he ends the clip showing its complete lack of handling negating everything he just said. I dunno maybe the mini-z really is better, but this looks extremely easy to drive

The mini-z cars are more advanced overall, very customizable, and very tunable, but also much more expensive. These cars give a similar, and admittedly "abbreviated" version of the same experience, but at a fraction of the cost.

@@shadyhazza these cars are actually quite adjustable as they come. Camber and toe are both fully adjustable, the suspension as well to a degree. There is even room under the body if someone wanted to put in their own electronics.

Thanks for the vid! I m torn between the same choices!! I am new to RC so I thought this would be a good starting point but I am also a petrolhead, done a lot of Sim drifting and I don't know if I would regret getting this LDRC and thought "Ah I should have just gone for the mini-z to start with" lol

@@davistiano that is a tough choice. Both require some adjustments out of the box, but the LDRC cars, particularly the RX-7 naturally wants to drift all the time. The mini-z is amazing, but is quite more expensive. I'd say get both, they both offer something similar but in a different way and different costs.

They tend to drift very naturally and easily as they are in my experience. the stock tires are hard drift tires.

I haven't, but I have heard of that issue happening for some. Are you making sure to turn the radio on before the car? I know it seems like a silly thing to ask but it's important to do that.
