@MooseRidez I was on aliexpress and bumped into a listing that showed the brass gears and supposedly a harden steel set as well. I'm just scared the brass gears will chew themselves up. I'm gonna run plastic and turn down the endpoints to get just a tiny bit more wheel speed than stock and see how they hold up.

on such small and light cars the standard plastic should last almost forever. I still have original gears on my scx24 and with many hours of crawling. Also, on the 1\16 hbx if you dont go to the sand and run 2s only on the stock 390 motor spur gear lasts many many hours of use.

Didn't realize that piece could allow for a grip option. Well noted. I ordered my gears cuz I took mine outside to drift and the twigs and sidewalk made the gears get ate up.

the gearbox clearances are hit or miss so purchasing another plastic gearbox could have better tolerances (gear mesh in the gearbox) so it may hold up better. My heavy gtr is brushless and still on plastic gears.

I recommend chexking out aliexpress for the whole gearbox assembly. The metal gears are not that durable at all. They are soft brass and the plastic ones last longers but the gear case can be an issue for gear mesh. So its luck of the draw to get a gearbox that is meshed better. I have had better luck with the plastic setup even on brushless.

Thanks for the video but on Aliexpress there are two references for the Nissan skyline: 1899 and 1899s. do you know the difference between the two?

I dont have the 1899s so I'm going to assume its the newer ones with coil over springs instead of the torsion bar style suspension. Everything else should be the same.

Grateful for this video bro, the plastic gears of my ldrc lost their teeth, That's why the rear wheels aren't spinning even if the "engine" is still working. Where can I get this gears tho? I'm here in the philippines.

Aliexpress is where I get parts for these. Just replace with a new plastic gearbox because the metal gears didnt last in my car.

found them on aliexpress but I don't recommend them. I have about 5 runs on it and they are already wearing out. My brushless modded gtr is still using plastic gears and I have over a dozen runs and the plastic is still good.

I don't recommend them. mine shark toothed themselves after just 4 batteries. Needs to be packed with grease probably to make them last. I just used a little and the gears are almost done. The plastic gears have been fine so far.

My plastic gears got a little stripped so should I buy this or just another set of plastic gears

the brass gears are already shark tooth on mine. I would just get a couple sets of the plastic gears. My Metal body gtr has tons of hours of runtime and the gears still look new. I do only drift on vinyl flooring. Maybe grippy surface is whats wearing down the gears or a bad gearbox. I noticed some of mine run smoother and some are loud. I would purchase a whole new gearbox, not just the gears, just incase you have a badly meshed gearbox.

looks like the only way right now is to get the whole gearbox assembly with motor. The plus is your going to eventually need to replace the motor and now you have a spare!

hey i have a problem with mine ive bought two and they run good for a few minutes rhen the rear wheels hop bad and it makes a grinding noise do you know what it might be

unfortunately I haven't ran into that issue. I do know if you have excessive rear camber the driveshafts will be over stressed from the angle and eventually cause hopping rear wheels.

@ i found out that its the transmission gears. very loose and wobbly before 1st run and after a short time it ran fine then bounced real bad from cogging. new secondary gears, a pinion. and planetary diff should do the trick

mine's spring always comes out so my drive shaft always comes off. do i need to change metal gears? any ideas how to fix it?

not sure what your referring to. If your talking about the spring between the driveshafts in the final gear you might need a longer spring to stop the driveshafts from falling out. I have never bumped into that issue so not sure whats going on unfortunately.

Do you know if the LDRC 1804 Miata has metal gears as stock? Or do all of these models always have plastic gears as stock? And do the stock gears need to be changed on the Miata 1804 if it is plastic, as the 1804 has upgraded electronics and everything?

all of them are plastic to my knowledge. They seem to hold up well unless you get the unfortunate gearbox that doesn't mesh well out the box. I have not damaged any plastic gears yet even on brushless.

Were the metal pinions of the gears tight? The ones that are in the gearbox housing. Mine have play and my plastic gears are worn out and I have to put in metal ones. And now I don't know whether to put in a new housing gearbox or leave the original one

metal gears meshed pretty good in mine. It's a rudimentary style gearbox with no bearings so eventually if you don't grease the shaft the gears are spinning on then you may develop some gear mesh play and strip gears. If you are destroying the middle gear meshing with the big output gear then you possibly need a new gearbox housing. If its the gear meshing with the motor pinion then you might be able to move the motor a little to get a better mesh.

honestly if you maintain the gearbox and grease the shafts the gears are running on it runs pretty good. You have to take into consideration the size of the RC. Its perfectly fine for me and most who run these. You can do a bearing mod but its diminishing returns at that point because these are so cheap. Just have fun and rip it!
