Looks to be exactly what I was hoping for. Gonna grab one of these to go alongside my GT Neo.

Nice! Yeah the GT Neo and this are a match made in heaven. Unreal

Get a 320mm round for the hub, and a 350mm round without the hub (just QR) and with those 3 wheels, you can drive any car

For the Asetek qr. I think you can use the standard plate that comes with the simagic wheel and just use a short usb C to usb A cable. If that works it would be much cleaner! Since the usb plug is on the Asetek qr you don't have to worry about the cable getting caught up and ripped out so no need for the maglink. I don't have a Simagic wheel to test this theory but it might work. Great review as always!

Thats some good kit for the money. I really like the paddle shifters being separate and the options you get.
@LaurenceDusoswa6 сағат бұрын
Yep really good. They’ve thought about how people use them

Good stuff, great review... simagic know the craic 💯

They’re definitely paying attention

I'm definitely picking that up this year. Looks great, probably THE best quality/price ratio of any button plate out there.
@LaurenceDusoswa6 сағат бұрын
Yep serious quality for the price

Great review! Thanks for the comparison to other SM wheels. The flex does look really bad though. It sure looks like it is coming from the back of the hub though, perhaps the QR?
@LaurenceDusoswa3 сағат бұрын
Definitely not the QR itself. It’s a space behind the rim. See, the threads sit slightly proud of the button plate and the gap causes this, coupled with a lot of leverage and cheap metal for the rim.
@harrymorris613Сағат бұрын
Ah interesting I wonder if a thin 3d printer spacer would solve the first issue.

Looks good , I like the modular options , the LED buttons look great and also the encoders and 7 way hats. The flex does concern me a little but Im not sure you would actually feel that while driving, however if the flex gets worse over time then only then is it a worry. I think also you might have had a focussing problem at some points in the video but that did not detract from the review or the information given here :)

Thumb to box clearance is good to see, I’ve had my thumb get wedged once and it was painful.

Yep this has been flagged to me before with other wheels

Hahaha that’s just the nature of the beast. I do feel sorry for recent GT1 rim buyers.

Too bad that flex looks horrendous as the product seems brilliant otherwise. Worrying in the long run as I've already experienced breaking a flimsy wheel with similar flex... Thanks for a very informative review! 👍🏻

I have the d shape rim with cut outs for the rotary encoders. Will this new hub be compatible with the mounting holes for that rim?
@LaurenceDusoswa5 сағат бұрын
Yes! But you’ll have big blank spaces/holes where the encoders are for the encoders. How come you have the rim and not the GT Pro hub (K) ?
@GiosSimCorner2 сағат бұрын
@LaurenceDusoswa when I first got my simagic stuff, I opted to get the C shaped wheel rim with the rotary encoders. Then, when the Neo came out, I purchased that. After a while I bought the simagic D rim that had the cut outs for the Simagic hub

hi top video 😊 I don't understand I was told to post the video on January 13th and everyone posted it today 🤷

How is the weight of it ( with wheel on) compare to GT neo or GTS? Which one u prefer to have on Alpha mini base as a all in one wheel option?
@anticalgary8 сағат бұрын
I wonder if the flex would be less if you installed the round centre plate instead of the triangular 3 bolt plate
@LaurenceDusoswa6 сағат бұрын
Nope. I tried. I actually think maybe the threads for the bolts aren’t recessed far enough. This is probably so they don’t get pulled out of the plastic. It it also gives too much tolerance and a gap forms between the rim and the button plate
@anticalgary4 сағат бұрын
@LaurenceDusoswa thanks for checking!

I just got the SIMDT WS1 hub for a hell of a lot less, that does the exact same thing. This is nicer of course. But functionally I just dont need it
@simfellow5 сағат бұрын
Great review! Seriously considering this button plate and shifters for a future upgrade. Question: could you use the default rear plate and USB port, and mount a different QR on that and use the USB port and passthrough from the QR (f.e. the new VRS one) to a USB port near/on the wheelbase? (.f.e. with the new VRS wheelbase mount with slipring and UBS port near the base). I would like to prevent a coiled cable if possible (yeah, i know, it's not a real problem, but still).
@LaurenceDusoswa5 сағат бұрын
Without soldering, no. Or maybe the right connection exists. Simagic told me it’s not something that they support but I’m sure it can be done if you know what you’re doing.
@simfellow5 сағат бұрын
@@LaurenceDusoswa because the default plate already has a usb-c port. If I could connect to that from the QR side (that needs to have usb-c) and the QR does the rest of the pass through.... Why wouldn't that work. The main question i had was mounting of the QR to the default plate.
@LaurenceDusoswa4 сағат бұрын
Yeah If you get the USB to work via the QR then there’s absolutely no need for the maglite adapter as far as I can see. I don’t know for sure though
@IvebenKruzen4 сағат бұрын
@@LaurenceDusoswa You defiantly can use the USB C port plate with a small USB A to USB C cable for the Asetek QR. The USB C plate is not recommended to use though with a coil type cable as it would put strain on the port but with the Asetek QR there's little to no chance of that.
