A fitting tribute indeed to your passed loved ones Jim. That's a real stunner. I've never seen mammoth molar used for a knife scale before. Never even heard of it. It must be quite rare and is absolutely gorgeous. You've really set the bar high now my friend. I think just taking that out and admiring it from time to time is going to gives you many years of pleasure. Cheers Jim. ATB Doug.

Cheers Doug - it's not as rare as you think, you just don't see it often because of the cost - it can add $300-$400 dollars easily to the price of a knife. It will get rarer in time though, as it will get harder to dig up mammoths from the Siberian permafrost and there are no new Woolly Mammoths being born to maintain the supply!

The knife is stunning in every aspect. The shape of the handle appears to be comfortable, not that you'd be breaking down boxes with it. And Until today, I had never heard a French blues singer, or knew such a thing existed.

Thanks for sharing this astonishing knife Jim. Money well spent I'd say, as you'll never get tired of enjoying such a beautiful and enduring piece. Fossilised mammoth molar has got to be as far up the 'cool scale' as it gets. I've got my eye on the Capuchadou's 'sidekick', the Chamois, although in a less exclusive material (dark ram's horn perhaps?) because I'd like to use it as more than an EHC (Everyday Home Carry), UK knife laws notwithstanding. It would be something of a step-up from my usual Opinel No 8! Good to know about the excellence of F-P's customer service, as I'd been contemplating making the trip to their Thiers shop to pick one out in person, which was going to cost more than the knife! Their Sperone is looking kind of nice too... Thanks again, and I hope you get many years of pleasure from Le Capuchadou.

Hello David - I'm glad you enjoyed the video, and thank you for your kind words. I'm sure the Chamois will look great in buffalo, and the thought of visiting the shop to collect it makes me jealous. The cool factor chart has to be topped by a couple of knives from Perceval. Metallic meteorite handles are not uncommon, but Perceval do a couple of knives with slices of the Imilac meteorite for the handles. Thirty-five grand!!!! Have a look.. I'm not sure i like them, but they are certainly exclusive. kind regards, Jim.
@davids95495 жыл бұрын
@@Grummash I see what you mean! No, not for me, but for the collector of exclusivity perhaps. If that €35K knife were placed next to yours, but without descriptions, and people asked to choose which they'd prefer, I think we both know what the result would be...
@Grummash5 жыл бұрын
@@davids9549 I agree - the Perceval meteorite knives look too much like the cheap nougat I used to eat as a child!

Wow, that’s a thing! I’ll not be buying one, but that’s down to the price more than anything. That beer sounds good. A beer that tastes of, well, beer, is a novelty these days, but even more welcome than ever!

I agree Eric - I quite like the citrus hopped IPAs, but I don't always want my beer to taste of grapefruit!

Will you carry this knife?
@Grummash6 жыл бұрын
Not a chance! LOL - it will get used around the house, but not for anything heavy. Although it's a slipjoint, it's a bit to big to carry in public legally.
@JH_10956 жыл бұрын
Grummash alittle pocket carry around the house is good for the knife...lol enjoy it.
