What a pleasure to hear an honest review on a product that works well complete with all the pros and cons. Presented very well, too. Now I have to go eat something. : - )

Le Creuset has a high standard for being great but i agree it's a luxury item for sure!

Nice cook! Le Creuset looked like it did the job, they are pricy, but high quality. We have 2 sizes of the dutch oven and they work great and clean up fantastic. We are in PA and we live in the country, so I do not cook steak inside, but enjoyed watching how you did this. I will be checking out your channel!
@GallaghersGrub4 жыл бұрын
Pricey but high quality. Thanks for watching in PA. Cheers man!

Bought my Le Creuset grill from Macy's during the holiday sale plus used my Star money. What a deal. The heating is more efficient with the cast iron, and they keep the heat longer after removing from the oven. You spend less on electricity.

This was my cousin's pan that I borrowed. We gave it back to her, but liked it so much we ended up buying the smaller single burner version. At first I thought it would be too small, but we use it all the time and really enjoy it.

I love steak and onions. I also like to add mushrooms to the onions when I'm up for it.

Yes, love to add mushrooms as well. Cheers man!

Thanks for your fine review. One question: how long time did it take you to heat up the pan?
@GallaghersGrub2 жыл бұрын
3-4 minutes. Same as any cast iron pan. I actually bought the smaller single burner version and use it all the time.

Definitely not an essential like a good outdoor grill.

Great vid,well done. I have mentioned in the past I'm a big cast iron fan. My go to in cast iron is Lodge. They make a fantastic product, been in the business for over 100 years made in America and most importantly are not expensive. You can buy a similar product to what you showed for about $50. That means you have enough money left over to get a nice Duth Oven, a great skillet and still have money left. By the way place a cast iron skillet on top of the steak while it's cooking to get those wonderful sear marks. Can also be done that way to do Panini.😁👍🍳🔥

Right on Victor. I have two Lodge cast iron dutch ovens. A 2-qt and I added a 5-qt over the fall. Love those things. Can't wait to break them out once I get back up to the cottage. Great idea with the paninis. I may need to make a vid of that.

@@GallaghersGrub I remember the 2 quart. It fit well in the "Q". When you get back out to the lake consider a campfire style of Dutch Oven. I'm planning on finally starting a Y Tube channel in the next couple of months, mostly bbq but will be doing other outdoor cooks including outdoor Dutch Ovens. I really enjoy your vids. Very professional quality.

I like lodge as well, I'm about to buy a lodge wok for my stir frys. My l cast iron pans can't hold the amount of foods I fry up for the fam any longer. In the summer I will buy a wok burner to compliment it.

@@angry-white-men I'll give you a suggestion about a alternative to a big burner not that getting one of those big bad boys is a bad idea, heck they are great. Anyway do you have a Webber Kettle? Put a big skillet or wok into a Webber kettle with a full chimney of charcoal or Briquettes and hold on to your hat so to speak. Works wonderful. Lodge has a 14" skillet that would work really well. I have not one but two 20" cast iron skillets with lids that Cabelas used to sell that fit perfectly in the 22" kettle. Sadly Bass Pro is clearing out all Cabelas great products ever since they bought Cabelas. But again the lodge 14" would work really well. Throw a little pile of wood chips or a couple chunks of wood onto the charcoal and get a nice wood flavor in the food in the skillet.🍳🍳🍳

@@victorbenner539 I don't have a Weber kettle any longer, just a Weber q and Weber smoky mountain. Do you think the 14 inch skillet would work well on an electric stove?

Those onions are just fried. I use no oil and put the onions in whole slices on, and turn them as whole slices. Nicely charred and sweet. These are just caramalized

What temp on electric grill, instructions say lot to medium for best results.
@GallaghersGrub4 жыл бұрын
I really don't know as I have not tried it on electric. If the instructions say medium, I would go with that. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Nice looking steak 👍🏻🥩 . I’m sure that’s a good pan but agreed $200 is a lot. The rare times I cook a steak indoors I use my trusty old cast iron pan. Years of flavor in that bad boy 😋

@GallaghersGrub4 жыл бұрын
I soaked it in hot water for about a half hour like I do with all my cast iron. No soap. Just the hard side of a sponge to scrub it and rinse it off. Not terrible with this pan.

City Escape Griller mine has a lot of stuff caked on it now, not so much on the ridges but in the furrows.
@jawtek82 Жыл бұрын
IMO, $200 isn't a lot of money if you use it a lot. Think of how much money a day at an amusement park, or buying a PPV fight, costs. Maybe $75 to a $100 for a few hours of disposable entertainment. While a pan like this will literally give you years of service and enjoyment. And I own a Weber outdoor grill, too, and I love it. But not in December, January, February . . .

I bet that smells amazing. $200 is a bit steep but, it's a one and done investment. That thing will last forever. Edit: This thing's $100 on Amazon right now, done. That's a no brainer.

It's a really nice piece but it's definitely more of a luxury item.
