Outstanding, I love how you are the only one who really breaks down songs to their scales and theory to empower us to be creative in the future but yet still enjoy the songs we love now. I wish you do more of these song breakdowns with their theory, you are the only one doing this kind of PROPER education. Talking about scales and note choices with songs we love is much, much more interesting and engaging than raw music class theory, please go in that line more! now that you have covered a substantial amount of bass theory, you can just refer us in song breakdowns to the matching theory class just like this one. Subbbed. thank you very much for that!

I love your teaching style, no fluff, but very informative, I've learned a lot (that scale, and the dead note technique is useful for me right now). Thanks!

I've tried ones I've liked and ones I haven't so I recommend going into a shop and trying a few. It also depends on your budget. A vintage one would be nice!

@@OnlineBassCourses good shout! I’ll try at my local guitar shops and failing that start searching for a vintage one

That tone, Sir. I'm trying to achieve that with my SR Special but nowhere close :(
@OnlineBassCourses2 жыл бұрын
Mine’s a ‘78 StingRay so it’s going to have roughly that tone. You could investigate new pickups/preamp but it would be an investment.
@roykato862 жыл бұрын
@@OnlineBassCourses thank you for your reply. I will explore this option, as I would love to get that tone 😊

OK, so I have really poor technique (as well as being a very poor player). But how are you getting that smooth, tight tone. Are you using compression and EQ? If so what sort of settings are you using? I realise there is no "definitive" answer, but having some idea would be useful! I've played around with compression and EQ with my bass through a Behringer XR16 digital mixer, but try as I might, I can't get that rounded tone you seem to be blessed with!
@OnlineBassCourses3 жыл бұрын
Thanks very much. First of all, forget EQ and compression (I didn't use any). My bass really helps (it's a 1978 StingRay) as it's naturally punchy. Other than that, I'm focussing on hand placement, note length and keeping everything consistent. That means no change in volume or speed when plucking. Takes a bit of time, but if you work on those things as well as your speed, coordination, and accuracy, you'll get there. I have lots of free lessons on my channel and site as well as a technique book: geni.us/bassexercises.

What about the tuning ? [semi-amateur-question] play along in standard tuning seems inpossible ! 🤪
@OnlineBassCourses3 жыл бұрын
It’s standard tuning. You just need to work it up to speed very gradually. Then you’ll get it after while!
