When we see the number 5 Aston Martin DBR1 thundering down the tracks with that beautiful sound we see 2 drivers... With the white helmet its Salvadori and the Gold helmet is Carrol Shelby. They won it as a team, and Shelby is the one that actually crossed the finish line 1st, contrary to the mistake by the announcer.
@jasonnehceis32672 жыл бұрын
Stirling Moss, the ultimate rabbit driver! He worked that DBR1 for 70 laps and helped pave the way for Shelby/Salvadori to go the distance for the legendary win. Fantastic!

damn, no seatbelt, drivers wearing casual shirt in races, can't see anything during the night. that era was dangerous as hell

All this narrator can keep saying is "Salvadori". Shelby was the co-driver and drove it across the finish line. The British can be so ridiculously partisan. It must have really hurt them when they were booted from the international Premier League.

@@perkinscrane Not a bit. To lie about which man that crossed the line first is as biased as you can get. It is LITERALLY the most important fact in the story.

@@cobaltcanarycherry I’m sorry to have upset you, I thought that my comment was quite humorous. I had genuinely not understood how important the point is to some people, again my apologies.

Salvadori did do 14 out of 24hrs of the race in fairness, and is it actually that surprising that a British newsreel is bigging up one of its own chaps? Not quite sure that a sweeping generalisation of us all of as 'ridiculously partisan' is entirely fair.

What a bunch of crap. If you look at the winning Aston being rolled into the victory lane you will see Carroll Shelby at the wheel. According to the announcer this "great team win" consisted of only Salvadori. Typical British coverage...
