Lors d'un concert en l'Eglise des Réformés à Marseille, j'avais eu le plaisir d'écouter son jeu si personnel et l'honneur d'aller serrer la main du Maître. Que le souffle de l'orgue accompagne Jean Guillou dans son éternité !

Months after the performance of Guillou's Agni-Ignis from "Hypérion, ou La rhétorique du feu", the cathedral burst into flames... Just a thought...

deux mois tout juste avant le terrible incendi... Qu'il repose en paix pour l'éternité !

Dernières obsèques solennelles à la cathédrale. J'y étais présente. Moments de grande émotion. J'ai habité 30 ans au chevet de Notre-Dame. Je l'ai photographiée sous tous ses aspects intérieurs et extérieurs, de près ou de loin, y compris des lieux inaccessibles au public.

Politics, I think. Guillou didn't get on with the clergy at St Eustache.

May I suggest it was the opposite : the clergy did not get on with Guillou. He has been a volunteer organist, for years, and one day they said him: good bye. A shame.

There were some problems between the community of St. Eustache and Jean Guillou at the end.

Philip Mancera Allegedly, Guillou was annoyed that he had not been consulted in the process of appointing his successor. He stated that he had nothing against the chosen ones, whom he considered to be very accomplished organists, but felt that the lack of consultation was the final straw in what had long been a difficult relationship between himself and the clergy. He vowed that upon completing his final duties as titulaire, he would close the door firmly behind him and never set foot in St Eustache again.

Dieses Requiem wirkt befremdlich. Meines Wissens hat sich Jean Guillou nicht besonders für das Christentum interessiert. Er stand mehr dem Keltischen nahe. Und seine Orgelmusik hatte nichts christliches an sich. Es wirkt zu aufgetragen.

Très grand organiste novateur dans l'interprétation et surtout la registration. Beaucoup de respect pour ce si grand artiste !

Respects à cet homme. L'Organiste de haut vol, qu'il enchante les cieux. A écouter absolument... Les tableaux d'une exposition de Mussorgsky retranscrits. Un régal ! ❤
