Le Train d'Artouste in the French Pyrenees

While on holiday in the French Pyrenees in 2024 we rode on Le Train d'Artouste - the highest train in Europe apparently
The journey starts off pretty uniquely with a 15 minute gondola ride to get from the lake to the railway. Then 2 trains set off about 2-3 minutes apart on the journey that takes them to the Lac Artouste.
The trip starts immediately with passing through a tunnel of about 400m and 3 minutes journey time
There's no doubt that it's a fantastic route cut into the side of the valley with many sheer drops of 100's of meters in places. With the two trains almost in convoy you're able to see the other train showing the route.
The return trains cross about 1000m from the terminus at Artouste and there's 1 hour and 45 minutes before the equally impressive return journey
