I think Bell is the guy who doomed all future RB's. Guy was a beast, behind one of the best O-lines at the time but he actually thought he was THE beast, nvm the line. Asked for tons of cash, didn't get it, sat out a season, came back for a mediocre Jets team and fell flat of his face. Every team learned it's not so much the RB, it's the O-line and team. Since Bell, no RB is ever getting that kind of money again.

Some RBs are different tho. Adrian peterson in his prime. Lynch in his prime. CMC now.
@Zappy1210
@Zappy1210 2 ай бұрын
@@TariqSWOLEn All three of those had the same luxury as Bell, great O-lines, so are they really "different". The only RB I would say was "different" in my lifetime was Barry Sanders. He had nothing to work with his entire career but made things happen consistently. Look at CMC's numbers when Trent Williams went down from week 5 to week 8 in 2023, his numbers took a nose dive struggling to get just 50 yards on 20 carries each game and only broke 50 in 2 of those games until Trent came back that's just a single lineman missing.

This is my own research so forgive me if it’s wrong in 2013 Foot sprain missed 1st 3 games 2014 Injured and missed playoff game 2015 suspended missed first 2 games, arrested for drug possession. MCL injury missed final 8 games and 2 playoff games. Total missed 12 games 2016 suspended first 3 games regular season for a missed drug test Injured 1st quarter in championship game against Patriots. 2017 first full season.avg 3.1 yards a carry longest run 24 yards 2013 In his second preseason game against the Washington Redskins, Bell was tackled on a running play and suffered a mid-foot sprain. His injury did not require surgery, but forced him to miss the first three weeks of the regular season. Steelers lost first 4 games of season and missed the playoffs by 1 game. Played 13 games 2014 On December 29, (last game of the regular season) Bell was injured against the Cincinnati Bengals as he hyperextended his knee when being tackled by safety Reggie Nelson. Bell didn’t play against the Ravens in the Wild Card round of the 2014 playoffs, so the Steelers signed veteran and former Cleveland Browns' running back Ben Tate. Steelers lost that game after winning their last 4. 2015 After being arrested with then-teammate LeGarrette Blount on DUI and marijuana possession charges in August 2014, Bell was suspended by the NFL for the first four games of the 2015 regular season the suspension was reduced to 2 games. Steelers started 2-2. On November 1, 2015, Bell suffered a season-ending torn MCL during the second quarter against the Cincinnati Bengals, after taking a tackle from linebacker Vontaze Burfict. The following day, the Steelers placed him on injured-reserve, effectively ending his season. Bell had surgery to repair damage to his MCL/PCL. Bell played only 6 games for the season. Steelers went into the playoffs as the last wildcard at 10-6. They lost in second round to the #1 seed Broncos who were 12-4. 2016 season Bell was doing well after knee surgery but on August 19, 2016, he was suspended for the first 3 games of the 2016 regular season for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy. He stated that the suspension was due to a missed random drug test in December. The original suspension was 4 games, but was reduced to 3 on appeal. Steelers started the season 4-5. They would have been the #1 seed if they would have won 2 of those 5 including the game against the Patriots. In the playoffs: Bell suffered a groin injury early in the championship game loss to the New England Patriots, and he was forced to leave in the second quarter. Steelers had won 9 games in a row prior to that game. 2017 Bell held out and missed all of training camp and preseason. It took him time to get up to speed. He averaged 1 yard less per carry for the first 3 games. Game 3 the 2-0 Steelers lost to 0-2 Bears in overtime. Steelers were favored by 5.5 points. With 1 extra win, the Steelers 13-3 would have had the #1 seed instead of the Patriots who were also 13-3. 2017 He turned down a 2 year $30M deal. They paid him $12M under franchise tag Turned down a 5-year, $70 million contract. Would have made Bell the highest-paid running back in the league at the time. Missed 18 regular season games 22.5% & 3.75 out of 7 playoff games 53.5% Steelers playoff record in games where Bell plays the whole game 2-1 Games where he missed all or part 1-3 Playoffs totals with Bell 3-4 If he signs the franchise tag Bell would earn $14.5 million in 2018

Nothing really "sneaky" about it. They're openly killing it. Doesn't matter though. You can plan a pretty picnic, but you can predict the weather, like Andre Benjamin said. 😉 look what happened last year. People forget that everything is in God's hands. We think we can get to a point by talent, or wealth, or position, that we don't need God...when it was that same loving God that delivered the talent and wealth to us and laid it at our feet and watched to see if we would ever look away from it, up at who gave it. Not for out peace of mind but His He gives us all these opportunities. Jesus was right when He died on the cross, the last thing He said "Father forgive them for they know not what they do. "what IS man that you would be mindful of him?" ❤

I've left this comment before on other videos but I say again, I'm a die hard Steelers fan and I LOVED the killer B's. My heart broke after Bell and it completely shattered after AB. But I've seen this before with Pittsburgh players like you said. They shine with the Steelers, then they want that shiny money and the Rooneys aren't about that so the player either leaves or is let go. Then they go to another team where they fade into obscurity then quietly retire. It makes me sad and I wish they would just stay with the team they smash with. I know these players are employees and the NFL is a business and I understand pay disparities and stuff and it's easy for ME to just be like, play for love of the game, but I really wish... they would just play for love if the game. And as far as RB money goes, it looks like the NFL is becoming or has already become more of a throwing game than a running game with few exceptional players. Cloud that be part of the "running back pay problem" too?

Oh yeah. It's what got me a few years back. Heard it once, loved it. Stayed for the extremely insightful and impactful sports journalism though. It didn't hurt that Mike simply works harder than a lot of others. Of there is a story breaking he will literally get out of bed or cancel his appointments and bring you the news. Great journalist, extremely dedicated and for the most part unbiased.

Haha - I related way too hard to the “fuck you bro” at the beginning. For starters, it’s annoying in general when I’m just trying to relax at home and hear people roaring their shit down the street…I know how that sounds. Don’t care. But also, when I’m trying to record material and I’m hearing stuff outside it’s so distracting! 😂

RB contracts is a weird situation… they do the most but get paid the least because they do most, if that makes sense. The nature or the position, the inevitable injuries etc is actually why owners don’t want to pay them even though they are the ones taking the beating

All you gotta do is get a stud o line and draft a RB in like 5th round nowadays.
@user-jg8yd6gj9u
@user-jg8yd6gj9u 2 ай бұрын
I'm sorry Eric but that's just hogwash. You can draft 10 5th round rbs and not get a "Pacheco" dudes a good player. And "draft a great line" is easier said than done. I'm a saints fan and we put 5 straight 1st round picks into OL players and wound up with the worst line in Football last year. Even if you spent all top five picks 5 years in a row on OL players you still couldn't do it. Look how good the last 5 drafts top 5 OL players are doing like Ekwonu! It's still 50/50 in the top 5. Naw man. There is no real "blueprint" for success. What they have is guys who are presented with opportunities at a certain place and time and take advantage of it, then when people ask how they did it, they tell you. Then people automatically think "that's a blueprint for success" there's no such thing man. The ONLY real blueprint for success is to hit your knees and pray to God and stay aware so when He sends you the opportunity you notice,and are READY FOR IT. You know it's funny...but Tyrik was like a 5th round RB...idk why that's important, but what would've happened to him had he been drafted to your team 🤔 instead of some God fearing guys in KC that heard The Lord say : "he's a WR". What coach in his right mind drafts a 5'8"-ish 170 RB with the idea of turning Him into a WR? NONE and by how well it worked, that's how you know it was GOD. HE can do ALL things except fail. God bless you man ❤

I do. Not a chiefs fan but did somehow wind up seeing a couple games and thinking "this'll be good" my God he was terrible. I don't know what he did to offend God but that's all I can think must've happened because he went from bring an all pro to a meme, and it was true, guy ran sideways and out of bounds ALOT. I dont know that I EVER even saw him break at least a 10 yard run since he left Pittsburgh. Crazy world we live in.

It's jist extremely good coaching plain and simple. I'm not a steelers fan but the owners obviously know full well how to pick coaches and that the coaches are largely responsible for players successes in that program. Not a bad idea actually...the idea that a "great program" with "great coaches" not only win rings but keep you at a high level...not "superstars" or prima Donna's.

That's pretty retarded. So I can't compare my all pro receiver that gets 1000 yards 5 years in a row to a Pittsburgh bdnchwarmwr that happened to be there for a superbowl run? My dood that's a weird train of thought. Randy Moss never won a superbowl, nor did Megatron and they were THE BEST TO EVER DO IT. Wearing that ring doesn't mean you're any better than the next man, you just happened to be in the right place at the right time and GET BLESSED! That's what they say though in Christian circles, it's one of my favorite Christian sayings it goes like this : "one day of God's FAVOR is better than a LIFETIME of labor". Yes im serious. We can work as hard as we want and get nowhere. Then when we've all but given up God catches us out the corner of His glorious eyes and slightly nods His head in our direction...then after that things change,and people right obout you, and remember you always. All those guys you listed were good WRs but nome were what I would call great. AB "was" great and look how he went out and is remembered. Only GREAT Pittsburgh steelers WR I've truly seen since I was ten and started watching football in 1990 at 10 years old was truly Hines Ward, unless I'm forgetting someone? I guess AB, but he never was as complete a player as Hines was. Still they've had their share of some good pass catchers up there. Hell man I watched the lions get 1 yard from the SB with a 5th round WR nobody wanted who is 5'11" and ran a 40 slower than a 4.5! He was their leading receiver the last 3 years...
