It's 2019 and here I am, watching again and again Lea and Simon's duet interpretation of Sun and Moon.For me, their version remains unsurpassed until now. Miss Saigon is synanimous with Lea as Kim and Simon as Chris. Splendid, amazing, superb, magnifico is their version. It makes you fall in love with love and wish that in real life, you could feel their tender, great love for each other despite its tragic end.

an innocent girl ,but yet a very intelligent girl.on this auditioned she was already in the limelight in the philippine television .she had her own show for children.

I find it funny that Lea even could manage to carry a British accent in the interview. In the US, her English sounds more American. Then when she's singing in Miss Saigon, her English has the natural Asian accent. Now that's range. :)
@Dan-gi6tf4 жыл бұрын
British was her original accent. Filipino accent is heavily influenced by the American accent so she eventually adapted it over time.

Besides your reactions, what I like about you is that you naturally enjoy watching these videos. You allow your interest to curiouslly go back into the history of these now famous artists. So refreshing.

This clip is actually part of a documentary entitled "The Making of Miss Saigon". Look it up here in youtube. One of my bucketlists is to see the musical in Broadway. The songs and the story of the play just stirs up my soul and grips my emotions everytime.

The 2nd song where she wore a white polo shirt is not the first rehearsal, that's the first call back, trying to learn the song but she wasn't offered the role yet. There's other video here on yt where she sung "The movie in my mind' .She was 18 when they opened but 17 when she auditioned.
@labellavita128 жыл бұрын
That's the final call back. That was in London. Her auditioned piece is "On my own" then asked for another song so she sung "the greatest love of all"
@Underfighter738 жыл бұрын
I watched that somewhere. I think there is no video of that audition though. The one where she was asked by Jean Claude Schonberg to sing Sun and Moon is the second day.
@labellavita128 жыл бұрын
+Underfighter73 I think they didn't tape the 1st audition. The first video shown is her final call back, that was in London and yes you are right that the "sun & moon" is the 1st call back (2nd audition), there's another song though, "The movie in my mind" but it was not here in this compilation.

Simon Bowman was probably the best in his role. But overshadowed by Lea.

I never understood why she had a English accent back then......not sure she had a English upbringing though....... but then again girls at that age or anyone at that age can put on a accent for show!

rayzorhead she's from a rich family and went to a very good school abroad and English language is their medium of communication at home!!!

I Love You!!! yeah right she was everywhere in TV and movies she sure doesn't speak like that in them. Besides girls from St. Scholastica, Mary knoll, or even St. Paul will speak like they came from Oxford , they are more likely will have an American accent. She's just showing off...
@aplazarito7 жыл бұрын
Antonio Guamil by that time in her age she doesn't need to show off cuz every time she appeared on tv she had an accent already. While staying in the country for long time of course she adapt her environment. The main reason is that most Filipinos don't like someone talking having an accent, they think it's overly pronouncing. Some people from western countries they don't like Asian people especially Filipinos, if you have an accent, every time you speak they tried to correct your pronunciation cuz it sucksss for them. Anyways, Lea Salonga is Lea Salonga she's versatile so, no questions. And by the way every time we say Oxford most likely British accent not American accent! Filipinos have commonly accent of a British and Spanish English accent a little bit hard when pronouncing the words!!!! 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
@mountainblanc32007 жыл бұрын
I Love You!!! -Yeah in the Philippines specially the learned ones, tend to be overly technical when it comes to speaking english, Filipinos learn english from school at a very young age but not usually spoken at home. In the Philippines most of the people speak in a very neutral accent, and words are pronounced the way it should pronounced to diffirentiate similarly sounding words therefore avoiding confusion.
@karensantos54216 жыл бұрын
I think she adapted to her environment which is why she had that accent. She lost it after she did Broadway.
