A timely reflection. We don’t build religious temples to be torn down, with the exception of Provo and Ogden, nor should we build musical temples to be reduced to rubble. I’ve spent a lot of time in old UK buildings and have watched the beautiful Grantsville Public Library rise from its foundation to FIT so well into our little community. It is truly a temple of learning here, designed by FSKR. Roger Jackson is spot on with his focus on permanence. Abravanel Hall has met his expectations for me every time I’ve been in it. The strong gold statements throughout link to the immense power of classical music to move the soul. I’ve also enjoyed the elegant glass creation of Dale Chihuly. He ranks at the top of his artistic world. The hall honors a certain maestro that single-handedly added Utah to the world’s cultural map. We should all be grateful for Ryan Smith’s visionary approach to downtown (with the exception of this particular idea). Go west, instead of east, young man.
