@@rickphillips5098is cement pointing still acceptable? I was told by my local mechants that the silicone is the only thing that should be used now? But im never convinced they know what they are talking about 😅 I have always thought the silicone looks kinda aweful. Stands out a mile. The lead looks lovely and in time just blends in with the building and i think should be pointed in with the matching cement? Or i was thinking the other day at least they could maybe do other colour silicones? I've only seen grey??

This looks like a lovely tidy job - but I wish it showed what’s going on at the sides of the chimney. What happens to rain hitting the sides? Won’t it run over the flashing & go straight under the tiles? Where is it collected? Thanks
@slbleadworks
@slbleadworks 6 ай бұрын
Thank you. There is soakers on every course this prevents the water from going in and the water runs out on top of the tiles. Thanks for watching.

@@slbleadworks Thanks. Reason I ask is I have a tiny leak on my chimney under the back lead tray, so was thinking the felt on mine is short and/or the lead has a small hole, so any any (small) moisture running under the tiles (merly interlock) down the felt will go into ceiling. So I just don't know if you curl the membrane/felt up slightly against the chimney or whether it's flush/short being normal. Would be great to see this in another video as I just can't find the answer anywhere. Keep up the good work.

Nice job, but for once, peaky blinder is right, 7 inch lead is better. Since metric measurement rolls came out, most people try and squeeze the flashings out of the 150mm rolls which aren't big enough, better off buying 180mm roll.

Lazy tilers. Back when we did strip and re-tiles I used to get the back gutter and front apron made up by my plumber mate. Then we would install all the new flashing as part of the tile job. Wedge and point. All the jobs are getting split up these days. Us old farts did them all. Never learnt to weld lead but was pretty reasonable at the flat bits. Step flashing is simple. Even I could do that. Should have got someone to teach me how to weld the joins.

When flashing imperial bricks it's better to use 7 inch lead as it gives you a better angle on your step, 4 and 3 instead of 3 and 3. Look at the marks of the old lead, a far better angle on the step. Imo.
