Our lead-free body solders can be powder coated over, as the the spreadable temperature is over the cure temperature of powder. The issue using standard lead body solders is that the spreadable temperature is approximately 360-490F (within the 350-400F cure range of most powders). In regards to prep, you'd want to prep the area that was repaired with the lead-free solder like the rest of the part that is being coated.

@nickt916 I would say that you really want to replace sheetmetal that has pinholes and rusted through areas. However, this lead-free solder would probably do a decent job of filling pinholed areas, if you can't replace the steel.

This looks pretty easy to work with. I am a beginner with no body solder experience, but I want to try rather than pay a $75/hour body shop labor rate for someone else to do it. Can I get decent results as a beginner? I need to fill two roof to quarter panel seams just like in this video.

Will the solder hold up to the powder coating process? Should I do anything differently when powder coating over the solder?
