I was looking for reviews for Angie list and Thumbtack and hopefully I found your channel. I absolutely agree with your way of thinking, these companies that generate leads are often wasted time. We own a remodeling company in Central Florida and most of the time our projects are thanks to referrals. (mouth to mouth), but not all the time the referrals are willing to start the projects immediately as they are only look for estimates to planning and see when they could start or just to compare prices. And as you know, December and the first quarter of every year it is hard to get leads! From now on, I will follow your channel and keep in mind all your tips. I already builded our website and did the Google Maps location step, however, now I am realizing that I was focus on trying to get leads in the old-fashioned way! Your video has motivated me to continue developing my knowledge about the digital world and learn more about the marketing tools that we have available online!! Thank you CHUCK!!

They will need to estimate the project and talk to you to make sure it's what you want and that you can afford it. Specific processes differ by contractor but generall this is the order or operations: 1. Meet and discuss the project scope, budget, and timeline. 2. Draft a design / plan / estimate. 3. Propose the estimate to the client - negotiate if necessary. 4. Sign contract 5. Permits 6. Schedule and carry out work with intermittent payments at project milestones. 7. Work complete and final walk through. 8. Final payment

I did it myself at first and have a team that does it now. Once it's set up properly there's not a lot of work to do besides getting reviews as often as you can. So much for the fun, my area is drying up. From framer I know, to couple handymen, concrete man been in business for 60 years he pulled his ad, one does flooring, he told me where is the work at, his daughter had to help pay on his house, a builder from California once he is done with his last house he is returning home. only built 20 homes in 3 years. Other trademen tell me the same there is a slow down. Great now have to get some crappy job, I reapplied at a grocery store I worked at in college to help build my checking account back up before the shut down in construction. I just bought some Milwaukee tools on pre season sale anyone interested might be selling them off.

I have 1 year experience of selling software and was thinking of helping my dad’s home renovation business (tiling, flooring, painting, masonry). In order to sell these services do I need to have experience myself working in the construction business? Because I don’t understand the equipment or technical aspect. Thanks I’m glad it’s helping you. Yes I built the site myself using Wordpress.org. I have a lot of experience building websites but the important part is what is on the website and the Google Maps listing. Contest is king. If you want more guidance just ask. It’s hardest in the beginning.

I used to get crap leads as a loan officer. I would pay a so called online marketing company and no one answered or they allready refinanced. I still not have figured out how to generate consistant leads as a loan officer. Seo is too competitve.

When I was out of college, I thought what do I do? I decided to start a company. For 15 years ran my business as business. My advertising was yellow page ad, actually m company name and 1 line listing First 3 years was slow there it exploded . So much so went from analog answering machine old tape, that had to fast forward then rewind for every caller. to single line digital it filled up to fast . Bought a Panasonic 6 line office phone is digital I can talk on one line have multiple callers from call and hang up to leaving a message. Now a new Era on line or go under the radar. Sure need website, well, you need to be found. Example restaurant without knowing about that restaurant exist I have local contractors that have sites yet don't show up in a search. I do, yet have almost no business. I am finish carpenter, from int or ext doors. Trim. Interior painting, decks and more. Don't build houses I finish them.

@@jeffalan6339 We've been lucky to always have some sort of work going on. Our customers have us back over and over again. I did advertise for us about 4 winters ago and managed to get 3 bathroom remodels for a few hundred bucks. Not sure if that's possible here anymore with the amount of people that have moved here. Back in 2008 we slowed to a stop and did property management for banks on foreclosed homes. We didn't profit much but kept food on everyone's table until the recession was over.

@@chuckthecontractor I tried offering property maintenance. Offered storm clean up, to any damages for banks and realtors. Already had someone. I wear apparel with my company name. Tried on line just get out of area calls or scams. Tell everyone about me. Few local contractors spread the word or give me what they don't do. We share leads, I don't do flooring he doesn't do finish and the painter isn't a carpenter. I'm tired of a week maybe 2 off. Desperate learning from others such as your channel and 3 others. Will get my truck wrapped park in hi vis locations even our carshow that moved will park close to the highway as I volunteer.. My community wants it cheap or free. The 10 an hour painter is swamped the others just enough work. Same for 25 hour remodeler is too busy. Neither are licensed or insured. I am as the others Those I have worked for tell others of me tell neighbors, are repeat, tip me more than I ask for. I charge 75 hr, local VA has learned about me me hires me as needed. Local college as well. Once I hang a in or ext door or storm, trim , paint how soon do I go back? Even other cities have learned about me from G.M.B.. I am relocating to large city KCMO with 3 million pop verses my 15,000 do it themselves or hire lowest priced. Thank you sir

@@jeffalan6339 You’re in MO? Are people moving to your area? We have the most success online marketing in rural low competition areas. It’s counter intuitive but moving to a high pop place doesn’t necessarily make it easier because the competition is much tougher.
