Marty I have to say as a kid who started out when I was 13 and is now 20, you've been the best guitar teacher the entire time. I've been really struggling lately, as I never learned theory or anything like that, but these concept videos are really helping me progress and I thank you for all the years of awesome lessons!

Great lesson as always Marty!!! It was actually Elliot Randall who played that solo on the studio album . .. but Skunk was the soloist on tour. One of the best solos ever written IMHO.

Elliott Randall did the lead/solo on the original record. My Favourite guitar player. Amazing soloist. And I always thought chord progression was Gmaj9 - A
@larrygeetar93097 жыл бұрын
+MN PK Jimmy Page stated that was his favorite guitar solo - ever. Elliott was one of my guitar heroes from the early 70's on. Have you heard his solo album, Randall's Island? It's probably out of print now, it's from maybe 1971 or '72. I actually played with Elliott three times in the mid 80's, also got to hang some with him. One of the nicest guys and a most supportive dude, both as a player and person. And he was as great as you may imagine. He played "the guitar" that played "that solo," and it was amazing.

Hi Marty, I'm one of your loyal subscribers.......You mentioned that you thought that Skunk Baxter did the guitar solo on this one, but "for the record".......I believe that "Elliott Randall" was the original author of all of the guitar work (intro, solos etc.) of Reelin in the years.....not Skunk Baxter.........although, Skunk did a great job replicating it and did add a lot of the cool fills during the song in subsequent recordings and live performances.

can you pleas make a video about how to play the acoustic version of "i apologize" by 5 finger death punch?
@jacksguitarplanet4 жыл бұрын
I am a fan of a Major hexatonic scale (1-2-3-4-5-6) which will work over Ionian (Major) and Mixolydian, and a minor hexatonic (1-2-b3-4-5-b7) which will work over Dorian or Aeolian (Natural minor). I play pentatonic and then add the 6th note sparingly for color. Does anyone take this approach?
