Wasted many hours watching rampant egos rarely getting to any point or 'theorists' baffling me with technical gibberish before finally stumbling across this dose of common sense linking triads and lead so simply even I could follow it. Never really mastered triad link in forty odd years of playing. Only a fraction of the way through this video as the fretboard suddenly opened up in exciting new ways and paused to wander off and explore this new world. So a very heartfelt thank you Rusty, eager to watch more of your videos as also love laid back melodic lead style not hiding behind a ton of effects to sound good.

Very useful for ANY guitarist!!! I have just discovered Rusty this week. I am 62, late to guitar. Was a saxophonist. I have been stuck and made little progression. Yes , I can play most classic rock songs and play in a local group. But I have been lost for a while and have watched too many you tube videos rather than playing. Finally I have found Rusty. He is pure gold. I am finally understanding the fretboard from watching just three videos. And his exercises for internalising this quickly have improved me in just a few days. Seriously. I have watched thousands of videos. And finally someone answers all my questions simply and at a wonderful slow pace, with exercises that reinforce the theory. I now hope that I can understand and internalise the fretboard so that I can play like I do on my sax. Instinctively, creatively with my own personality. Man , the guitar is hard. Because it’s not linear like a piano or a saxophone. Arpeggios linked to chord changes have been my bread and butter on the sax. Rusts help in connecting chords to triads with incredibly useful exercises that are so melodic has given me confidence that I can now break through this barrier that has blocked me for years. I feel like I have found my own personal teacher. Each tutorial feels like that. I am dedicating my learning solely to Rusty. If you read this Rusty. Thank you so much. I am blessed to discover you. Thank you.

@@TheWorshipGuitarChannel2 what an honour to receive a personal reply. Every word I wrote is true. And apart from being a great teacher and human being, I just love your sound. Your expression. It’s so melodic and harmonious. It’s so similar to what is in my head but haven’t been able to achieve. My dream is alive again. I also discovered my faith just 10 years ago after surviving an illness with just 5% chance of recovery. My faith is strong. It seems too much of a coincidence to click on a video "worship guitar" and within seconds have a light bulb moment….And also not what I imagined a worship guitar player to play like. You remind me a little of Tim Pierce. (That’s meant as a huge compliment). I never prey for my self. But a prayer has been answered. God bless and best wishes from an Englishman living in France.

You’ve got some really good ideas. If your band plays their part, these mid-neck chords lets the guitar sit in in a different spot than the acoustic playing open chords. One suggestion - it may be helpful to draw a connection between the common open chord shapes and the triad. Knowing that the triads use similar fingerings as A, D, C, etc Of course, minus the roots and open strings

Oh man, to my ears, these are the most beautiful sounds I ever heard at 79. The resonance is incredible. For God's sake, what amp, what pedal and what pickups do you use in your Fenfer Strat? Fantastic lesson, Rusty - and a great addition to throw into a daily practice routine. As others have already mentioned, this method is one of the best ways to put together the fretboard in learning the triad positions for chords and then connecting them together. I wanted to ask you about your Strat. I see you have a Seymour Duncan humbucker in the bridge. Was this factory from Fender (aka Lone Star Strat) or did you put that in yourself? Is it a Seymour Duncan JB, 59 or something else? I have a SSS American Strat that I am going to make an HSS loaded pickguard to put in, and was leaning toward a Seymour Duncan JB but am still trying to narrow down with single coil pickups for the middle and neck to pair it with. God Bless you, and thank you for all of your efforts in both of your channels here!
@TheWorshipGuitarChannel27 ай бұрын
Thanks so much! I bought the Guitar used, but it is a Seymour Duncan pearly gates pick up. That makes it a very versatile guitar for me! The neck pick up cleans up very nice and I can easily add some grit to it when I go to the bridge pick up. Thanks for all your support and have a great weekend.🙏
