Camping below the dam was great and a person used to be able to camp there anytime in peace. Now, if you're lucky enough to find a spot you'll end up with people all around you. Similar in most all public lands in all of Lake County. I get the attraction to Leadvile because I've lived here my whole life, I definitely understand the economic benefits of our home being finally discovered, but my home is not the same place that it once was. Good or bad (depends who you talk to)...it has been changed. I personally still haven't decided.

@@NewstateNomads There's a movie from the '70s called "The Eiger Sanction" that has Clint Eastwood and George Kennedy's characters climbing up a giant mountain in the Alps during the heat of summer. When they reach the top all tired and sweaty, Clint says "Want a beer?". George says "If you hauled beer up this rock, you're insane!" Clint says "I didn't carry it -- you did. It's in your pack." Once you reached the lake for snacks, I thought for sure you were gonna reach into that pup's backpack and pull out a couple of those "Build bridges not walls" beers!
